Posted .Hi there, thanks for reaching out. If your unit's making a squeaking noise, this may be normal at times as this signifies ice building up around the mechanisms of the unit. This ice should be taken care of by the automatic defrost cycle. This cycle is automatic and may take 30-45 minutes. During this time, the ice maker will not respond when you press any buttons, and it will not make ice. If the squeaking does not stop, then you may want to consider cleaning your Opal. THE SOUNDS ARE UNBEARABLE

Hoped they weren’t true and bought it anyway. HUGE MISTAKE. The sounds are unbelievable annoying (especially when defrosting). Makes great ice, but it’s not worth it.

The first one died just before the warranty ran out so they just gave me my money back so i could buy a new one but the second one is 3 weeks out of Warranty and it is broken again. If they would put a cheap replaceable filter in it that would fix the problem but everything nowadays is made to last just outside of the warranty date so know if you buy this unit it only going to last around one year

Screeching noises

I called the company and they sent me a new one but it also made the same noises. i read a lot of reviews on the same issue so it seems like the machine is manufactured with problems

Awesome nugget ice

Not as noisy as I was expecting based on the reviews or was very easy to get used to. I put a couple of baggies of ice in the freezer for the holidays, but haven’t needed them. Would definitely recommend for people wanting nugget ice without trips to Sonic.
