    We are on the third one of these and each one starts making a terrible squealing noise after about 6-8 months. We like the ice but hate the noise.

    this is an expensive machine. 1 1/2 month in using this unit. have kept up with the maintenance but this one stopped making ice and would always go to the defrosting cycle. tried to do cleaning cycle, cleaning with chlorine, cleaning the sensors, reset to no avail... did I get a lemon? not sure but I'm returning this unit for replacement or refund... my old no name brand, 1/3rd price ice maker made it to 2 years... this one not even 2 months... I'm so disappointed...

    worst purchase ever! Ice maker stopped working after 2 months. Had to wait 3 months to get a replacement unit sand it stopped working after 3 weeks.

    After just beyond the 30 days from when i bought this item, it broke. $600 item wont even last 30 days. Absolute garbage

    This ice machine only lasted 14 days before it started making a "dieing cat sounds" so we unplugged it, boxed back up and returned it for a refund.

    Did not work and made a huge mess

    I drove 50 miles to pick it up. Despite all troubleshooting it would not create ice and it simply leaked all over my counter. Everything about my experience with this product was extremely frustrating and disappointing.

    I bought one for my daughter lasted for 1 year bought 1 for myself lasted even shorter time they replaced it lasted little over a year now in trash.

    Second unit. After about q days it makes a screeching noise that sounds like a cat fighting with another or a baby crying.

    Less than a year old and already broken. Not sure if it is COVID, but seems like Warranty Dept is dodging me. I don't think I will get my warranty replacement anytime soon. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

    Had to return two of these ice makers. Neither machine would keep the ice bucket full even with plenty of water in the reservoir. Every time you open it to get ice it leaks quite a bit of water onto the drip tray. This was annoying but not keeping the bucket full even when no ice was used for days is pretty ridiculous. Would not buy this product even if the price point was closer to $300. Looks nice but that about it.

    Had missing pieces, couldn’t get manufacturing company on the phone to replace missing parts

    Worked a little over two weeks and started making loud creaking noises and instead of pellet ice it would make shredded snow cone like ice mixed with pellet ice. Called manufacturer and they wanted me to put down a deposit and they would ship me a refurbished one!! I said no! It is only a few weeks old and I did not buy a refurbished one!! Not happy at all and best buy said nothing they would do because by that time it was past their 3 week return policy!!!

    Only had the unit for two months and it isn’t worth the amount you have to spend on it. Constantly says add water even if the reservoir is full. Tried every thing GE has said to do and nothing seems to work. Will randomly start making ice for a week or so and then say add water when it is full.

You may want to try resetting your Opal by unplugging it for 3 to 4 hours before plugging it back in; this resets the electrical components and can often resolve an issue.     The unit is great when it works. It needs defrosting and descaling often (at least every other week) or it will not operate which is a pain. I try to keep it on the timer so it's not making ice too often.

    After 4 months of working great it is now make a very large grinding noise. I am now on the help line and I have been waiting for over 30 minutes to get help with this.
