Bass is great and the mids and highs blend in perfectly. Well balanced sound!

no much of an upgrade over 2nd Gen

One of them has a failed wifi card after about 5 years of ownership. I purchase this Gen 3 to replace the Gen 2 Play:5 in a stereo pair. Unfortunately you cannot create a stereo pair with two different gens.

Anyone on the fence about going with Sonos should just jump in.

Very happy with the results in both instances. The Five's do have a noticeably higher fidelity sound for the theatre while providing a fuller sound for music while the TV is off.

Do not buy!

These are literally the worst electronic devices I’ve ever purchased. I outfitted my house with Sonos, spending quite a bit based on the sound and reputation for quality. I learned they were having issues with their app and I as patient while they figured it out. Nearly a year later, using these speakers is a daily struggle. I’m tempted to drop them off at Goodwill, but I’d hate to burden the buyer with the headache.
