They are both equivalent and the decision is whether you say "hey Google" or "Alexa". So if you are building your eco system and it is Google/Android then this is a great product.

I love how they have integrated their OS into this and you are able to navigate your different apps from the chromecast instead of having to disconnect from each app to change when casting from your phone. This is ideal for connecting directly to a TV input or something with some more space behind it. I have this one plugged in to a sound bar which is mounted to the wall and it doesn't have room to "hang", it is slightly constricted and I am concerned that the cable will wear over time due to the awkwardness of the bend. I know this does not help with visuals but the point I'm trying to make here is that it is best to be sure that you have enough clearance around the port you are connecting this to (especially if your TV or sound bar is mounted to a wall).

Chromecast replaced Roku

This replaced our old Roku. What I didn’t like was the lack of apps. It was full of apps we would never use. We subscribe to BritBox which the app isn’t available, so you have to cast it from the iPhone or tablet.

That's my only complaint. I like having the voice command, makes it easier & quicker to get to what I want to watch.

1. Make sure that your mobile devices and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.
a) Check your Chromecast Wi-Fi network.
i. Chromecast with Google TV (HD) or Chromecast with Google TV (4K): At the top right of your TV screen, select your account icon and then Settings and then Network and Internet.
ii. Other Chromecasts: On your mobile device, open the Home app and then touch and hold your Chromecast's tile and then Settings and then Device information and then Wi-Fi.

On my smart tv I was not able to cast my phone but with the Chromecast it works perfectly, love to have all my tv apps there. I'm a google fan and this was definitely a must.

We prefer this over any other streaming device. Never have problems like the Firestick, or limitations like the Roku. We love our Chromecast and will keep streaming with these.

We have been using chromecast on all of our TVs for about 2 years and adding the remote and ability to have onboard apps is amazing. We use YouTube TV for our cable service and this product is a must have with that.

The Remote really helps. You can control your tv start button and sound bar volumes with chromecast remote. For 50 dollars, it's really worth it. 4k support is an added benefit.
