The length of the connection is about as long as indicated in the image of the right, and thus using it to connect with anything, in my case with a monitor, is challenging or problematic or impossible. I think products such as this should have a much longer minimum length. It was not 'inexpensive'.

This didn't work for me and didn't get through the basic purpose it was intended for.

The first one broke after only two or three days, switching out ports maybe a half-dozen times. The second one broke within seconds of plugging it in once. You will pay less for better quality from Amazon or Newegg.

DOA or incompatible with my macbook pro/dell monit

Ended up finding a cable that provided a direct connection between the ports available on my computer and display. Not worth my time to return this adapter for credit.
