I live in a very warm environment, and the ice melts off quickly in the maker. It makes Ice about every 10 minutes, depending on melt and fullness. I don't see much difference in the settings of small/large ice. I use filtered water in it, and it took about 2 weeks to get the "plastic manufacturing" taste out of the ice. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Manufacturers fine print tell you to use Distilled water only, otherwise the metal that forms the ice builds up minerals that break you unit over time. Went through alot of these lasting 1-2 years max. Now runs fine with new unit and distilled water
