Thankfully I purchased the extended warranty on the first one. Love this item. I understand mechanical things do not last forever, so warranties are good. Hopefully this one lasts more than 16 months though.

The gears inside were RUSTING and dripping into the water supply! Upon further inspection, I noticed black build up in the tray where the ice forms. This machine is gross and impossible to clean. We called customer service to get a new one and we didnt have the recipe(who keeps those?!) So they "couldn't do anything"

It was not providing ice like I thought it should. You must keep it plugged in for a period of time in order for it to provide a good amount of ice, on going.
