    Good looking, basic monitor

This monitor by HP is a value-oriented model. It is not the most feature-packed one on the market, but it does pack the features I personally consider the most important in a monitor, namely an IPS panel with good color accuracy. I think HP has struck a great balance with this model. (In the interest of full disclosure, HP provided this monitor to me in exchange for this honest review.) I was looking for a basic desktop monitor that would have good viewing angles to use for doing side-by-side video chats with family. Naturally, I was looking for a monitor with an IPS LCD/LED panel, which isn't always easy to find under $150. This monitor, the HP M22f, ticked pretty much all the boxes of what I was looking for. The viewing angles are solid and the colors look accurate to me. I'm also pleased it has a blue-light reduction feature, which from what I can tell is always on. I have not noticed it affecting the color accuracy in any negative way (as I've seen the blue light modes do on other monitors). It's a very slim monitor. The bottom is only a little thicker, and this is where the stand attaches, and the ports are located. It's also extremely light, though not so much as to be unstable on a desk. The bezels are very slim - the only edge with much of one to speak of is the bottom edge. This looks very nice, but it actually does mean that a Webcam that clips onto the top of the monitor may hang down a bit in front of the LCD panel. (I have used a 3D printer to make a custom shim to raise my Webcam's clip up a bit from the edge, so that the picture is unobscured.) The slim size also means there was no room to include a VESA mount like many monitors have. On the other hand, the stand includes a nice integrated cable channel to keep your desk tidy. (The combination of size and integrated cable management make this monitor great choice for small desks. Add in light weight and easy disassembly, and I wouldn't be surprised if HP had dorm room use in mind when designing this.) The M22f has one HDMI and one VGA input. It supports a refresh rate of up to 75 Hz, though it defaults to 60. A 60 Hz HDMI connection was all I needed, so this is a fine choice. It does not, however, support any audio output port (headphone jack), but that is not a big deal to me. The build quality is OK - about what you'd expect for a monitor in this price range. The stand attachment bracket is plastic, though it feels durable enough. I did notice the upper corners seemed to have some slight, but noticeable, warping when looking sideways along the edge. I could not see any sign of this in the picture quality, so I think it was just in the plastic housing. This may have been due to how slender it was, but maybe it was how the case was intentionally designed. Anyway, as long as it doesn't affect the picture, I don't mind. If you're looking for a basic 21" monitor with respectable picture quality, I think the HP M22f is a good choice. There are a few minor issues with it, but none that would stop me from recommending it as a really good value option.

Great standalone monitor but beware mix & match

The HP - 21.5" IPS LED Full HD FreeSync Monitor with both HDMI and VGA inputs is a great standalone monitor but if you are planning on using it as a secondary monitor in a dual-monitor setup, you should really consider either purchasing two of these to be used together or buy a second monitor that matches the one you already have. I set mine up as a secondary monitor but immediately noticed a significant difference in color tone between this monitor and my existing monitor and I am pretty sure this is due to the HP Eye Ease technology. The always-on blue light filter is a great feature for a standalone monitor but no matter how much I tried to adjust the settings on this monitor, I just couldn’t quite get it to match the tones of my other monitor. This isn’t to say that the color quality is somehow “bad”, it is just slightly different and I don’t think it should be a dealbreaker when considering purchasing this monitor but I thought it should be noted. Other than that, I really love everything else about this monitor. The three-sided micro-edge display really lives up to its description. The bezels on the sides and top are so incredibly thin that they are essentially not noticeable at all and I can only imagine how awesome it would be to have two of these monitors setup side by side in a dual-monitor setup. This, in combination with the superb viewing angles, makes the HP - 21.5" IPS LED Full HD FreeSync Monitor a great choice and I highly recommend it!

Overall this is a really good monitor but I returned it because I have some physical limitations that lead to the monitor tipping toward me as I’d power it on or off because of the open design of the base. Colors are accurate and the really sleek design is great as is the response time to keyboard and mouse input. If your hands work well, unlike mine, tipping shouldn’t be an issue.

Excellent monitor. Time will tell on durability; however my needs were simple. I use it with HAM clock from a Quadra mini computer. Color and clarity are excellent.

The HP 21.5" LED Monitor, akin to most HP products, has been a great purchase! It is very well designed and easy to integrate; clarity, controls, and responsiveness are excellent. It is a "best buy" in all respects!

The computer is nice but it is small and only has 1 hdmi port so adding multiple screens won’t happen unless you by an extra external hard drive. It is light weight which I love really can’t complain as much it is doing it’s job and it is used for work just need to add extra screens and more external hard drive.

Great basic monitor for the money; just large enough, like the glare resistant glass, powers up very quickly; whats not to like?

    New DESIGN Great Screen!

This new screen from HP is a modern look that is current to the times. While in my mind HP has perfected their screen internally (as in the case) the Upgraded Stand makes this feel as a step above others. Personally I like the silver on the screen and I haven’t had a silver monitor since the early 2000s so this kind of gives me a retro feel yet still being modern. As you know monitors are usually black so I am glad that this color is coming back. The screen is crisp clean and bright. I also like the idea of having a blue light filter built in however it is already on my glasses. This feature is nice for those who don’t have classes or didn’t upgrade their glasses to have the blue light filter. I do wish this screen was 2k or 4k as that is what made me give 4 stars. FHD is great but compared to my 4k monitor there is an additional quality difference. I feel as though this screen is built to last and for people who use their screen 24/7. I have been purchasing and using HP screens for years. They are a household name printers and monitors and PCs that stand behind their products. Rest assure That your product from HP will be back and will perform to your expectations.
