    I got this with the sole intention of using it for smoothies and shakes so I wouldn't have to lug out the big blender. More on that later. It works quite well, smashing up the ice, mixing and chopping up everything I put in with no hesitation. Word of warning - don't do this at 4AM when everyone else in the house is sleeping - they won't be sleeping for long! It's a little on the loud side! Now, coming back to not pulling out the "big" blender... The electric base on this unit is literally no smaller than a "regular" blender, even one from the same brand. It would be nice it Ninja gave the option on he big blender to use these "smoothie" cups so we didn't have to buy a seperate unit just to use them - make the locking collar the same! Other than the size of the base, it does what it supposed to do and does it well!
