I was NOT impressed with these earbuds! I got them because they were "made to stay in your ear" and I was excited about not having to take them in and out all day at work. They did NOT fit comfortably in my ear, I tried to make them work - NOPE! The sound was sub par and I was SO DISAPPOINTED.

      Hi StephNe,

We're sorry to hear about your issue with the fit of these earbuds. If the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. If the part of the headset where sound is output is not oriented correctly toward the ear canal, the sound quality may sound poor or the left and right sound localization may sound misaligned.

To obtain the best fit and prevent the earbuds from falling out, we recommend you follow the guidelines on the link below to find out how to change the fitting supporters and how to properly wear the headset in your ears.

I honestly tried to give these a chance... i loved the idea of having headphones that wouldn't go deep into my ear. But these ended up being worst. The design left my ears feeling very sore after and hour & half of wear. i had to return even though i love Sony products.

After the first update the right earbud is staticky (I don't listen with a loud volume that would have blown it out). The earbuds don't charge while in the charger. They each need to charge separately.

      Hi Thomas,

While we're glad that you appreciate the unique open-ring design, we regret to hear if you find the LinkBuds sound quality subpar and they did not fit you well causing them to fall out. We’d love to help you troubleshoot your problem to make sure your LinkBuds is great.

If the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. If the part of the headset where sound is output is not oriented correctly toward the ear canal, the sound quality may sound poor or the left and right sound localization may sound misaligned. The LinkBuds may also fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.

Medium-sized (M) ear fitting supporters are attached to the LinkBuds at the time of the purchase. If they are too big or too small, select a different fitting supporter to help the LinkBuds fit better and feel more comfortable. We recommend starting with the larger sizes and working your way down to the smaller sizes until you find the best fit.

      Hi WeirongHuang,

Thank you for the review and we're sorry to hear what happened with the battery of your headphones. Please allow us to help you and turn this into a better experience. Use the supplied USB Type-C cable, to connect the charging case to a USB AC adapter or computer, and check if the case is charging. Clean the charging port of the linkbuds, and check the indicator status on the charging case.

If the earbuds are not well-maintained and foreign substances (such as dust or earwax) build up, the volume may seem lower than usual or not heard at all, they may not charge properly, or the water resistant or dust proofing performance may be affected. We recommend you care for the headphones regularly to prevent these issues.

Use a soft dry cloth or cotton swab. Clean the charging port or USB port cover. Clean the contact points on the charging case with a dry soft cloth or cotton swab. Clean the contact points on the earbud headphones with a dry soft cloth or cotton swab.

I picked these up in early 2022 shortly after they were released. The design is an interesting concept, and I applaud Sony for trying something different with their earbuds. Another positive is that they're using recycled materials for the product and doesn't seem to have a negative impact on the physical quality. The case is also compact which is a plus. There have been a lot of firmware updates for these earbuds, which can be updated through their app. Some have added new features which was nice. As other reviews have mentioned they do require some attention to getting the fit right. I played around with each of the fittings for a few days before I finally found something that worked. No, they don't have a lot of bass as they sit over your ears and not in your ear canal. The sound signature is similar to larger open back headphones but in a smaller earbud format, which I enjoy. They aren't as loud as you expect earbuds to be and at higher volumes people around you can definitely hear what you're listening to. With that being said I found that volume levels required in quieter office and outdoor settings didn't leak much sound. The battery is hands down the worst thing about these earbuds and my reason for the average rating. For the first 1.5 years everything seemed pretty good, I got near the advertised battery usage. In the last 6 months or so the battery has fallen off a cliff. One of the earbuds has trouble charging, it is constantly on low battery even though I have the case plugged in and earbuds should be charging, I can't get more than 20 minutes of use out of that earbud. It takes constant fiddling to get the earbud to sit in the case properly to charge and will stop charging if I pick up the case and put it in my bag. I have tried cleaning the case and earbud but nothing has helped. This is apparently a common problem with these earbuds after trying to troubleshoot. The other earbud lasts about 90 minutes now.

      Hi Resv,

While we're happy you like that they are small and light and amazing for calls, we're sorry to know if the available operating time is short or the battery power does not last long. Check the Available operating time in your model's Help Guide for operating times of the headphones on a fully-charged battery.
      Ref: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000447703.html

If you set the following functions, the available operating time of the battery becomes short.

      • Equalizer
      • DSEE
      • Speak-to-Chat
      • Function to launch the voice assist function by your voice
      • Service Link
•Sound quality mode during Bluetooth playback: Priority on sound quality

If you run the above settings at the same time, the available operating time of the battery becomes even shorter.
Note: Be sure to store the headphones in the charging case after use. If the headphones are placed in a pocket or bag, they may recognize that they are being worn and turn on by mistake.

For additional information, refer to this helpful link: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000449917.html

We also recommended updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. The software update improves the general performance of the unit and includes key features, applications, and bug fixes.

      Hi Unknown,

We regret to hear if the LinkBuds did not fit you well causing them to fall out. Allow us to help you and turn your experience around. If the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. The LinkBuds may also fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.

      • Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears.
      • Select a different size fitting supporter and align the protruding part of the LinkBuds with the cutout on the fitting supporter. Make sure to insert the fitting supporter completely.
      • After attaching the fitting supporter, check that there is no movement on the LinkBuds. (Shake your head back and forth.)
Note: If they fall off or move in your ears when you shake your head, select a different size. The best fitting supporter may be different for each ear.

For detailed instructions on how to replace ear fitting supporters and wear LinkBuds Truly Wireless Earbuds, please make sure to follow the guide from this link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-l900/articles/00275647

I test out many different headphones for talking on the phone. I have found that this one was very good in my right ear but in my left ear the little nubbins were not exactly right to keep the LinkBuds in my ear properly. Wow, okay I had to return these. Typically I can handle having anything in my ears: earplugs, AirPods, Pixel Buds, you name it. These were a whole other thing alltogether. I appreciate the thought and the effort that went into making an earbud with a hole in it so you could have sensory awareness of your surroundings but... especially when Sony is supposed to be a leader in ANC, this isn't the way.

PROS: * Good audio quality without blocking out the world around you * Unbelievably comfortable * Customizable EQ (in the app) * "Wide Area Tap" is really cool! * Customize taps in the app * IPX4 rating (great for workouts) * Made from recycled materials * 5 wingtip sizes included * Tiny case CONS: * Weak bass (even with bass boost) * No multi-point pairing * No wireless charging == SETUP == The first time you want to use the LinkBuds, you will need to use the mobile app. It does a great job of using simple, helpful images to walk you through both pairing the buds AND how to wear them. After pairing the LinkBuds for the first time, you can easily pair them to any other device without the app. Just open the case, press and hold the pairing button, and then find the LinkBuds on your tablet/laptop/desktop to connect. On the non-software side of setup, Sony includes five different wing-tip sizes to find your perfect fit (extra small, small, medium, large, and extra large). The medium sized tips are already installed. The wing-tips are easy to remove and install, so I highly recommend experimenting with the different sizes to find what works best for your ears. There are no physical buttons on the earbuds, so you interact with them using tap gestures. You can select which taps mean what, and for each bud, using the app. What's really cool is that you don't need to actually tap the LinkBuds, you can use what Sony calls "wide area tap". Instead of tapping on the LinkBuds, you tap the side of your head NEAR your ear. Speaking of customization, the app is also how you can customize the sound quality of your LinkBuds. The EQ in the app gives you full control to find what sounds best to you, or you can go ahead and use several pre-set options. One major complaint about the setup and pairing I have with the LinkBuds is that they do NOT support multi-point pairing. So, while you can pair the LinkBuds to multiple devices, you can only pair to ONE at a time. This means you can't pair to your computer and phone at the same time, which is annoying when working from home. == AUDIO QUALITY == The LinkBuds are an open-back earbuds, which is really cool and unique. If you have owned/used open-back headphones, you know that the audio quality is very different compared to closed-back, giving you a wider soundstage. Does Sony duplicate that with open-back earbuds? Kind of. Any music with vocals and isn't too bass heavy will sound really good, but won't really be as loud as I would like. This makes sense, since the LinkBuds are meant to allow you to listen to your music/audiobooks/calls WITHOUT blocking out the world. You should be able to hear both your content and what's going on around you. Combined with the IPX4 rating, and the LinkBuds are quite possibly my favorite earbuds for outdoor cycling/jogging/etc. How do they compare with other earbuds? Honestly, it depends on what I'm doing. If I'm just going to be at home listening to music and don't want to ear headphones, I would probably use something other than the LinkBuds. The LinkBuds have good audio quality, but not the best, especially if you like music with a decent amount of bass. The open-back design really hurts the listening experience if you want bass (even with the EQ's "bass boost"). Despite the LinkBuds not having the best audio quality I've heard from earbuds, they are my go-to earbuds for not only outdoor activities, but for working from home as well. The LinkBuds are VERY small and have a non-flashy design, which means they don't stand out in a professional setting. Instead of using garbage laptop speakers, or unprofessional-looking headphones, the LinkBuds are fantastic. The audio quality is good, and the mic quality is even better. Everyone said I sounded very clear and the volume was "just right". == BUILD QUALITY & BATTERY LIFE == While the LinkBuds may not be my favorite earbuds for overall audio quality, they are without a doubt the most comfortable pair of earbuds I have ever used. I honestly wouldn't blame anyone for forgetting they were wearing them if their audio was paused/off for an extended period of time. The charging case is TINY. Its small size may be the reason why it doesn't support wireless charging, which is a bummer. Thankfully, it does have a USB-C port for charging, so there's no need for a separate cable to carry around with you. Both the case and earbuds are made from recycled plastic, which gives them a very unique texture and appearance. It may not be for everyone, but I like the speckled look of the white LinkBuds and case. Sony claims that the LinkBuds will give you up to 5.5 hours of listening on a full charge, with an the case providing enough recharging to give another 17.5 hours. This will really be up to how you're using the LinkBuds, but I am averaging a little over 5 hours with volume somewhere between "low" and "medium". If you're using the LinkBuds at your desk, I would just put the LinkBuds in the charging case during breaks to get enough battery life for the full work day. == BOTTOM LINE == If you want a pair of earbuds with a VERY unique look, excellent comfort, and need to hear your surroundings, then the Sony LinkBuds are worth checking out. If you value audio quality above all else (and can or want to ignore your surroundings), then I wouldn't recommend the LinkBuds. I feel that Sony decided that the order of priority for the LinkBuds were: not blocking out your surroundings > comfort > audio quality. This isn't a bad approach to designing earbuds, but it's not going to be for everyone.

Had these for about two months or so an the right ear is completely low ended up ordering another version of sony buds that are cheaper an work much better. These buds are very uncomfortable for the ear an you can hear all outside noise.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

      Hi Cassey,

We're so sorry to hear you are having volume difference between the left and right earbuds. This is definitely not the customer experience we want you to have. The all-new Sony LinkBuds feature a comfortable open-ring design that naturally blends ambient sound with digital sound. The LinkBuds may fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.

      • If you feel that there is a difference in volume levels between the left and right sides, change the fitting supporters to another size that fits your ears better and feel more comfortable. The size of the left and right fitting supporters may be different.
We recommend starting with the larger sizes and working your way down to the smaller sizes until you find the best fit.
      • Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears.

We have a recommended way of wearing these open-ear headphones. Please make sure to follow the guide from this link:
