Customers are saying

Customers commend the ROG Zephyrus M16 for its impressive performance, stunning display, and crisp graphics. However, some users report experiencing significant fan noise and heat generation, particularly during gaming. Concerns were also raised regarding battery life and the keyboard's design. While the lightweight design is appreciated, potential buyers should consider these trade-offs.

This is amazingly fast gaming laptop but it’s also very loud when the fans ramp up and the battery life on performance mode is less than one hour gaming so if you can look past those couple things then it’s a good choice….maybe wait for a sale to justify it

Hey electronics Andrew, sorry about your comission

the electronics person (andrew)was insisting I couldn't purchase this item at this stores location even though I showed him the item on my phone and how it showed that this store had 2 of them ready for purchase. His supervisor even gave him the "No" nod when andrew asked him. In other words he was looking to make commision off another floor model with lower specs that I said "if i cant buy this online one then I would just grab the floor laptop that was weaker in specifications than the online laptop". I decided to ask someone else and the customer service guy told me that I could absolutely buy the online one through him. He helped me purchase it with my newly approved best buy credit and just like that I got a super powerful computer. My very first powerful laptop. Andrew in electronics needs to be reminded that customers come first and not his comission .

With a week of use I'm convinced this is a great laptop for games, office tasks and video production. Performance is spectacular, though of course not quite up to desktop level. I didn't expect that, anyway. But for my favorite games (MW5, Baldurs Gate beta, Divinity, etc) I can run this thing on *silent* mode with everything turned on highest settings except ray-traced shadows and water reflections and still get 60fps+. Granted, those are not the most intense games, but still, its running on silent mode. A few others need more power, and can get it, at the cost of fan noise and heat. Yes, heat on Turbo mode does get high, but not out of spec for the intel chips. Frame near power button gets hotter than I'd like. But then, I seldom ever run on turbo, don't need it, and a laptop stand with fan helps manage that a bit as well. Given all that, for me, its great combo work and fun machine that is portable and will last me a LONG time. Your mileage may vary. Pros: Wonderful screen (res, brightness, etc), I like the 16" screen esp for office work. 2nd M2 slot for another drive I've ordered. Performance great, as stated above. Keyboard quiet. Camera is decent. Sound is superb. Cons: Can run hot, but you might find you don't need Turbo all the time. 8+8 to 8x32 memory thing is a bit of a disappointment, but was not a major factor for me anyway. Battery drain is fast on high power modes - then again, seldom run on battery, and when I do, it is typically portable biz tasks that i run in silent mode and battery will last a long time in that scenario.

The good. The processor and cooling solution is INSANE. This laptop will push 130+W for a long time through the CPU. For a laptop this thin and light it is an accomplishment. Liquid Metal is indeed the way to go. CineBench R20 Scores are 7200. But that is the best that it has going for it. Screen is gorgeous and bright. Typing experience is actually enjoyable. The Trackpad is excellent to be honest. The bad: There are certain things that are simply unacceptable. Mouse lag is one of them, as its the device you use the most. I use an external mouse most of the time. Bluetooth mouse lag is TERRIBLE. After spending many hours scouring what this could be, I went through the rabbit hole of. Wipe everything and reinstall. Same lag. Drivers everywhere. Same lag. Every single possible solution that was available on the internet, nothing made it better. Installed insider previews, same thing. Couple things i noticed. Having a usb thumb drive would make the lag/stutter worse and unusable. Depending on the location of the mouse lag would get better or worse but never truly go away. This lag also shows or gets "injected" into normal usage of this laptop making it utterly unenjoyable. Screen would jump around as you are dragging it and very annoying. Like if you had a 15hz screen. I believe that either a bios issue and power management with wifi card is literally the problem as also the WiFi6 performance is TERRIBLE. Sitting 10 feet from the router max thruput was 600-700mbit/s. I have a 1.2gbit connection. For the sake of comparison my GS76 yields 1190-1280 consistently on a side by side test and has ZERO lag using any of the bluetooth mice that I have. While the usage of a USB receiver solves the lag issue, this laptop has only 2 USB A ports thus having one of them occupied by using a mouse dongle is not an option for the usage I give this laptop. The lag gets worse if in balance mode, so only turbo mode makes it somewhat bearable. The hard drive performance is paltry. Luckily this is a part that gets replaced and Asus was nice enough to put PCIe4.0 on both slots which is a plus. The 16gb ram deal, while not surprising as last year had the same configuration, it is simply not enough and for 2199 retail this laptop should have come with the 32gb already and i bet NO ONE would have complained, or at least have the option to upgrade. As it sits with availability only 24gb is possible and windows simply hard faults all the time with it's own antivirus. I don't get this issue with the GS76 with 32gb ram. I really wanted to like this laptop and i was extremely enthusiastic about it. but simply unbearable the way it sits. Not sure if swapping out a wifi-card will fix the issue as this card is an intel card, which is the same manufacturer as the killer wifi card from the gs76 and I also have this same wifi card on a razer blade 15 and no issues. Not sure if I will return the unit yet, but looks like I will and wait for the GS77 to drop on Best Buy.

The computer works well, the display also looks good. I wish the battery life was a little better but with about 3-4 hours of battery life it’s not too bad. You can run pretty much any program and not worry about performance issues.
