The only drawback was being forced to create a new Roku account, and also being forced to put in a credit / debit card in the new Roku account "just in case you want to make purchases". Nah... that's really lame and shady to have to force that! Especially when it's going to be used exclusively to watch older shows (for a parent) instead of new releases on subscription services. It is nice that it will support subscription services, just forcing the card during setup is super janky. Otherwise, this replaced an older Roku that was giving me bad network and performance playback issues. The old one supported only "G" networks. This one supports wireless A+N. After I joined this one to my network it hasn't dropped any frames or audio at all. It has excellent wireless support and video processing capabilities for its size.

I have another streaming attachment which can do that. The plus of the Roku is that it has live TV included in the Roku TV service. That gives me the ability to see news feeds without having to get an app I might need to subscribe to for local news. Also, Vudù fully functions on Roku. It doesn’t on my other streaming device. So the plus is better streaming services. The minus is loss of TV control.
