Love My Roku - Express

My TV is still good so I'm not planning on getting rid of it any time soon, but I would like to eliminate cable. Enter Roku - Express. Setup was easy. And there are a number of channels, as Roku calls them, that are free. I did buy a Tablo which records over the air broadcasts and works easily with Roku. I am reviewing what free channels I like and which, like HULU, I want to pay for. Just like cable, you will get more than you need or want. All you have to do is figure out if its cheaper for you to do cable or Roku.

Easy to set up, especially if you already have other Roku devices. It has just about all of the major apps. The only major app that I’ve seen it doesn’t have is the altafiber cable app. So I just went with YouTube TV for cable

The Roku is very straightforward with clear, step-by-step instructions. I'm just a casual viewer and didn't want anything overly complicated. Also, Best Buy's price was competitive with online vendors, and they have curbside pick up during the pandemic.

The transition to cordless

Works just like my other Roku devices with one notable exception, the remote does not turn the TV on or adjust the volume. If that becomes an issue in the future, I'll upgrade the remote to one that will control the TV as well.

On subsequent turn-on it keeps disconnecting now and then. Don’t know what’s causing the disconnect and I know its not the wi-fi. Thought about returning it but so far its been okay. Only had it for 2 weeks so I will continue to monitor it and decide later weather to return it.
