I’ve been using the AirPods Max for everyday listening, calls, and travel, and they’re easily one of the best-sounding and best-noise-canceling headphones I’ve owned. The noise canceling is excellent, and Transparency mode feels incredibly natural like you’re not even wearing headphones. Sound quality is clear, detailed, and full, and switching between Apple devices is effortless. Downsides: they’re heavy for long sessions, the case design is awkward, and the price is definitely premium. But if you’re in the Apple ecosystem and want top-tier ANC + smooth connectivity, these are a fantastic pick.

I’m picky about sound, comfort, and quality—and the AirPods Max deliver. The audio is crisp with balanced bass, noise cancellation is strong enough to completely tune out distractions, and Transparency mode actually sounds natural (not robotic). They’re comfortable for long wear and feel very well-built, not flimsy at all. Yes, they’re pricey, and yes, I hesitated—but after using them, I get it. Seamless Apple connectivity and premium performance make these a solid buy if sound quality matters to you.

Despite complaints regarding lack of updated chip etc that may be present in the AirPod pros, the over ear AirPod maxes are a different breed of headphone in the Apple lineup. They took the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” approach and despite people’s skepticism, this is still a top tier premium headphone. This headphone is in a class of its own regarding luxury listening, being better build quality and a higher price range than the Bose, Sony and Sonos but not so high in price as the Bowers and Wilkins or B & O offerings. This sits in the middle as a premium noise cancelling headphone with premium metal build quality, excellent noise cancellation, best in class transparency mode, rich and detailed sound especially utilizing spatial sound with music and movies, and imo the best looking and most sleek design of any headphone in the market. Adding USB C and the slew of new colors gives this headphone the facelift it needs to continue being a top of the line headphone in the market. The new midnight color is amazing in person. And finally, the AirPods Max as expected fit so seamlessly into the Apple ecosystem that it makes it the best choice no matter how new the other offerings are. Despite the new Sonos Ace having newer bells and whistles as far as tech advancements, the noise cancellation and sound quality is better in my opinion on the AirPods Max still to this day not to mention better looks, build quality and working more seamlessly in the Apple ecosystem. All in all its impressive for a headphone from 2020 to be more than holding its own against newer headphone competitors that have gone through 2 new iterations since then. The minor refresh these new AirPod maxes got are frankly all they needed considering how Apple knocked it out of the park the first time with these. If you are upgrading for usb c and the new colors or you want to get these for the first time, these are definitely a must buy.

as a musician and music major, i wanted a pair of headphones that could best achieve the feeling of being inside the music, and these are phenomenal. i also love that they fit my small head and have a really good battery life despite not having an off button. i can wear them for hours at a time and not experience any discomfort whatsoever. love love love

First of all, the airpod fits perfectly, and i like snuggly feeling on my head while wearing it to workout at the gym. Second of all, the bass and noise cancellation feature. Its quite and let me enjoy my music without interfering from loud music at the gym. Lastly, the airpod is comfortable and soft, cover both my ears for long hours. Highly recommended and everyone knows that.

Stunning audio quality and a must buy if you listen to a lot of audio material. I enjoy using this to listen to audio books then I connect it to my computer at work because the noise canceling is excellent. Battery life is actually good for a day and half of use in my case and I wasn’t expecting that based on all the YouTube reviews I had seen. Also it is as heavy on the head as folks say (heaviest I’ve ever had) and the clamp force on the head does take some getting use to. Keep in mind achieving that thigh seal around the ear is why the noise canceling and transparency mode feels so unreal. Comfort wise it’s not the best as I need to adjust the headband repeatedly (say every 15min) and the ear up material is so rough and it irritated the skin around my ear lobes. I got a silicone skin for the ear cups on Amazon ($8) to fix that and to also keep the ear cups fresh as silicone is easy to just wipe clean (ear hygiene is a must). Apart from that it is very much like other headphones in that it covers your whole ear and yes your ears will get hot when using it outside or in a warm environment. On like my Sony MX 4’s there is actually enough room in the ear cup and the sensors are receded so nothing really rubs on your ears ( depending on how big your ears are :)). last thing to know is the ear cups will get dirty immediately you start using them because it’s cloth rubbing against your skin so expect all the body oils, sweat, and skin to get cut in in the fabric; you will be washing it often unless you get a silicone skin or one of the hundreds of colorful 3rd party ear cups on amazon that can help hide dirt. Buy at Best Buy because I will say they are more helpful and customer friendly than the folks at Apple in my experience.

Excellent sound quality, comfortable, and very practical. The battery lasts a long time and they connect super fast. I highly recommend them!

I work in a call center and wanted a wireless set of headphones that fit over the ear that my customers could hear me on in a busy environment. I love the transparency mode for when I’m walking downtown and can hear my colleagues when necessary. These fit nicely on my head and the sound quality is great. Going to noise cancelling mode is great when I the people I’m speaking to are on a bad connection or speaking quietly. I do enjoy the quick connection to my iPhone and computer.

Definitely a luxurious product Apple. The build quality of the AirPods Pro Max are stellar. The hinges are heavy duty, the cups feel robust and that overall adds to the heaviness of these headphones. Though they tried their best with the soft mesh which have a very nice feel. As far as sound; With USB C, now there’s lossless audio which is great for people looking for a more Hi-Fi Experience. Though to connect these to anything other than a device with USB C, Apple charges you $40 for a USB C to 3.5mm braided cable. Yikes. (I ended up buying it -_-) The sound is clear, with strong bass clear mids and highs. I look forward to listening to music on these everyday! Thought ive had a few software kinks when connecting these, the noise cancellation and transparency mode are some of the best on the market. I love these headphones despite their flaws and hope that I’ll have these for a very long time.

Don’t get me wrong, these headphones are nice. Comfortable all-day wear (except while eating), great sound cancellation, beautiful design, and stellar build quality. The all day battery life is great too. Just not worth the price tag. However, the sound quality is obviously not the draw of this product. The design and seamless integration with other Apple products is what draws people in. If you aren’t already deeply rooted into the ecosystem, don’t bother with these. There are much better quality (sound) options for less.

The AirPods Max deliver exceptional sound quality with deep bass, clear mids, and crisp highs. The active noise cancellation is outstanding and works incredibly well in noisy environments, while Transparency Mode feels very natural. The build quality is premium and the Midnight color looks sleek and elegant. They are very comfortable for long listening sessions and integrate seamlessly with Apple devices. The switch to USB-C is also a welcome update. Overall, a high-quality, premium headphone experience that lives up to expectations.

I bought the AirPods Max (USB-C) in Midnight and have been using them daily for a mix of music, conference calls, and watching videos. I’m already in the Apple ecosystem (iPhone/Apple TV/Apple Watch), so I mainly wanted something that “just works” and sounds great. How I use them Music and podcasts at home and in the office Zoom/Teams calls Movies/shows on Apple TV Occasional travel/errands for noise cancelling Setup & Apple integration Setup was basically instant—open the case near my iPhone and it paired immediately. Switching between devices is the big win: moving from iPhone to Apple TV or a Mac is simple and usually automatic. If you’re already in Apple’s ecosystem, these feel like a “plug and play” headset. Sound quality The sound is excellent—clean, detailed, and punchy without being muddy. Vocals come through clearly, and the bass has weight without overpowering everything. They’re also great at lower volumes, which I appreciate. Noise cancelling & transparency The Active Noise Cancelling is the best I’ve personally used. It cuts out constant noise (fans, HVAC, background hum) extremely well, and it’s strong enough that I catch myself forgetting how loud a room actually is. Transparency mode is equally impressive—when I turn it on, I can have a conversation without taking them off. Comfort & fit This is where it’s mixed: The ear cups are soft and seal well But the headset is noticeably heavy, and after long sessions I feel the weight more than other headphones If you wear headphones for hours at a time, that weight may matter. Calls & mic For calls, they’ve been solid—people can hear me clearly and the noise cancelling helps in louder environments. I wouldn’t call it a studio mic, but it’s more than good enough for work calls. These are genuinely great headphones. The AirPods Max deliver impressive sound quality with rich bass, clear highs, and a depth that makes everything sound full and immersive. The noise cancellation is amazing—it blocks out background noise even in really loud spaces, like busy cafés or on public transport, so you can just focus on what you’re listening to. The design feels premium, they’re super comfortable for long sessions, and the battery life has been solid with no issues so far. Whether it’s for music, calls, or just tuning out the world, for me , they’ve been totally worth it.

Exactly what I was expecting. The design is very pure, the sound quality is also great and the noise reduction feature is definitely more advanced than the one in the AirPods Pro. I’ve heard that the sound quality is even better when plugged but haven’t tried it yet. It’s also great for working out, it doesn’t slip. Would definitely recommend!

The AirPods Max in Purple were a gift for my daughter, and she absolutely loves them, especially the color. The sound quality is excellent, with deep bass and clear audio, and the noise cancellation works very well. They feel premium and comfortable, even for longer listening sessions. They are on the expensive side, but the design, sound, and seamless connection with Apple devices make them feel worth it. A great choice if you want high-quality headphones and a color that really stands out.

Excellent sound quality. Seamlessly integrated with all of my apple products. Great battery life. Noise canceling is top tier. Like all headphones, you do need to hardwire it to your device for the best sound quality. Day to day functionality not the greatest due to size and inability to turn off without specific case. And the case you get for it will be big/clunky. Probably not wise to travel with it without a case. Not a practical day to day experience if you leave your house for work but great listening experience for your leisure

Easy to use and very comfortable. Sound quality is good but not the best I have heard and they don’t seem to get really loud, if you like to listen to your music like that. The noise cancelation works really well and battery life is also good.

The switch to USB-C makes these so much more convenient to charge with the rest of my gear. The Midnight color is stunning—a deep, sleek navy that looks very premium. As always, the Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode are best-in-class. They are a bit heavy for long sessions, and I wish Apple had updated the case, but the build quality and sound are unbeatable if you're already in the Apple ecosystem.
