Solid Slim Gaming/Productivity Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.There's a lot to like about the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 gaming laptop, and only a few negatives for me personally. The overall design is very sleek and slim with a stunning OLED display, but at 14" it may be too small for some. It is only a little over 3 pounds though. I am not a fan of the case design with the giant slash on the top of the case. It just looks like a design afterthought. But you're mostly going to be looking at what's on the inside, and that's where this laptop shines. The screen is a bold and beautiful QHD (2560 x 1440) OLED display with a 120hz refresh rate, which is fantastic for all my gaming needs. I found that with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 it's going to handle a lot of modern games I play well enough on medium settings, but I have to turn down the graphics to 1080p to get high frame rates. I feel a 1080p screen would have been good enough for this smaller scale 14" screen. But if you're streaming videos then the higher resolution is appreciated. And the speakers were surprisingly good for such a small design. Battery life is good on this laptop, but I enjoy the performance boost with the power plugged in, although the fans can get quite loud. There's plenty of ports for all of your needs, including a microSD slot, so I can easily transfer and edit photos on the go. If you're looking for a slim laptop for gaming, school or productivity, the Zephyrus G14 is a pretty good option. It's very capable and especially portable.
