    Its a scam. Accidental Geek Squad Protection

    I had a cracked screen and tool it to Bergen Town Center, well within my the duration of my insurance, they refused to fix it. First they said I needed to make an $80 deposit for it to be shipped out to the manufacturer and then I might have to pay extra depending on how much it costs to fix. After I reminded them I had an insurance, they switched up and said they could not find an insurance covering my device. I then pulled up a receipt and then they said it appears my insurance had been cancelled a few months ago. Avoid this service as much as you can. I learned my lesson the hard way. They cannot be trusted. Especially the ones from Bergen town Center

    Not able to locally diagnose problem

    Laptop to be used to support travel photography. Less than a month after purchase screen connection is failing. With one week until travel, staff said with a smile, could not help and need minimum of two weeks. Suggested I buy second computer for trip. After years of buying computers (about 8) from Best Buy, service may force me to use another vendor instead.

    Took a computer in to have it fixed the case broke the only thing I don't like is they don't fix it in store most things get sent out and it takes weeks. But it is better to have it fixed then have to buy a new one.

    We took our Lenovo Yoga 730 in to have the screen repaired as it was flickering on and off and sometimes not working at all. It took quite a while to repair but that's understandable because of the pandemic. The laptop was repaired and seemed to work fine. about 6 months later the screen flickered a couple times when powering on then worked ok. Just last week (10 months after repair) the screen will no longer turn on. Took to Geek Squad today to ask them to cover and we were told repairs are only guaranteed for 30 days. What's the point in buying the service and having something repaired? If a company doesn't back their work for more than 30 days it's pointless and a scam. Best Buy and Geek Squad should back their services more than a month.

    While we really loved the HP ENVY Laptop for the first 4 months (that we purchased with this Service ), in the 4th month after purchase, while primarily using it at a desk, not even traveling with it, an error message indicated a Hardware/Fan Issue. Since stores were closed due to Covid19, we called Tech Support who troubleshooted to verify a Hardware problem. We were told tjhat we had to wait for a store to open to bring it in for Service... which really sucked by the way, but we understand it's not their fault they had to close their stores. When we did get an appointment the week stores reopened, we were told we would they would have to ship it to HP for repair, indicating we would not have a CPTR for 5-6 weeks??? Unreasonable... We asked for them to refund the purchase amount and we would apply it to a new computer right then and there. They were not willing to do that. Instead they told us we needed to BUY at FULL PRICE a New Computer, and Return that New Computer when Our Hardware Failed Computer returned??? NOT THE SERVICE WE EXPECTED WHEN WE BOUGHT EVERY WARRANTY AND TECH SERVICE THEY WANTED TO SELL US IN THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE... But we had no choice.

    Wouldn't buy Geek Squad protection again

    We were disappointed to find out it didn't cover a lot of things. You have to pay a diagnostic fee to see what is wrong and if it is covered. Even if it IS something that falls under the protection plan, you still have to pay for the diagnostics. Sad! Did a good and quick job with repairs, but wouldn't spend the extra money on this again. I could buy a brand new computer for the cost of the plan plus the diagnostics. Maybe if it was a more expensive unit, it would be different.

    Very professional, werent able to fix the first laptop but got me my money back to buy another as store credit which was better than losing the money considering the laptop was only used 2 months.

    Fortunately, I haven't had to use this service for my laptop. It'd be nice to get my money back once my term is over & the service is not used. I feel like it was a wasted expense.

    I've yet to have to use any of their accidental protection plans. I hope and pray it lives up to its bargain if I have to use it. Time is almost up - but one never knows when one will need it.

    My laptop isn’t covered because the CPU that the manufacturer installed isn’t installed correctly. I have no idea how to do it. I need a working laptop

    Have not used the Accidental Protection. Needed Geek Squad assistance once since buying the Protection Plan; but the assistance needed was not covered by the Plan. The Plan has not benefitted me to date.

    Poor Customer Service and Excessive Time Delays

    I dropped my laptop off at my local Best Buy location after I had dropped my device for a simple screen replacement. At the time, I was told that my device would be repaired and returned to me within 10 days. This was not the case however. One month after dropping off my laptop at Geek Squad repair services and many frustrating phone calls, I was told that my device was not able to be repaired. Best Buy provided me with a new laptop to replace my previous laptop but told me that my warranty was then voided and told me that if I wanted a new warranty, then I would have to purchase one at full price. Overall, this was a frustrating experience given that my device needed only a simple screen replacement. I would not recommend this service to others.

      We expect our Agents to follow the Terms & Conditions of your Geek Squad Protection Plan (https://goo.gl/cDfRu9). While I can't be certain without reviewing your Service Order, it sounds like it is possible that the parts required to complete your repair were not available. Per the Terms & Conditions of your plan, this would entitle you to an exchange for similar technology or store credit to apply towards a new purchase. My understanding is that it is correct that this would fulfill your plan, which would mean that you would need to purchase a new plan to have protection on the new device. I'm sorry for any confusion that occurred during your service, and if the Terms & Conditions of your plan were not made clear to you earlier.

    Bestbuy has the best warranty, I always purchase a warranty for a piece of mind, it's simply just worth it, they'll replace if something happens directly. You don't have to contact the manufacturer.
