They replaced the computer after it failed in 6 weeks. That took a week (during which my daughter had no school computer). Then when checking out with the new computer I was asked if I wanted a repair plan. I responded that I had already paid for a four year repair plan. I was told that once a repair or replacement occurs the four year plan has been used and needs to be purchased again. So, buyer beware. A four year plan is only good till your computer breaks (even if it is the day after purchase), after which it is null and void.

Should have opted for longer plan. My laptop fried almost exactly a year into having it and geek squad sent it off for repair and had it back to me before my finals were due!

Happy to know extra protection if needed is so close. Added Price was good

The plan he was referring to was this one. It's a protection plan, not a replacement plan. It's worth it to some customers more than others, if you look at it as just spending an extra $300~ then obviously you wouldn't think it was worth it. But when you look at all the benefits you get with the plan it justifies the price a lot better

Tried to redeem warranty and was told my laptop would have to be shipped out and would take about a month before I could see the new one. Probably worth the money and the peace of mind, but keep in mind that any repair will put you out of your device for at least 30 days if it is not an easily repairable device.

Whenever possible I buy from Best Buy. Other than around the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales they do price matching (read their guidelines). I have always been happy with buying their Geek Squad Protection* and gotten quick response and replacement or refund depending on the issue with the item. * Samsung washer and dryer in FULL VIEW of kitchen/dining area has 2 different door styles AND 2 different glass colors because Samsung discontinued them for the dryer. Looks awful. This is out of their control I guess, but Geek Squad wouldn't replace the other door because it wasn't broken and I explained where they are located in full view. As a result, I won't buy Samsung washer & dryer pairs ever again from any retailer.

It's worked great. Having kids this is a must with your purchase. Repairs are fast and easy, no questions.

My parents got me a cheap but nice digital camera for Christmas when I was 16. The thing about it was, the slightest bump could jar the system inside and render it inoperable. After this happened to my camera and the screen on my sister's was cracked, they decided to buy us one more but with a Geek Squad protection plan on it. I myself have NEVER bought any of my electronics without getting Geek Squad protection. All four laptops that I have purchased in the last decade, digital cameras, my husband's PlayStation and VR equipment. There is just so many things that can happen to these things accidentally that Geek Squad covers and they have literally saved my life on so many occasions when it comes to fixing or replacing one of my things that have been broken.

My daughter bought a new laptop for college. She debated about paying extra for the Geek Squad policy, and in the end she decided the extra cost was worth it. Her new laptop is a 2-in-1 that converts from a laptop to a tablet. She was playing with this flip feature after taking it out of the box and dropped the device on the ground, screen first. Within 30 minutes of bringing it home, she shattered the screen. She took it back to Best Buy and they sent it in for service. The screen was repaired and she has her laptop back. There are times when the Accidental insurance policy doesn't seem worth the expense, but my daughter is hoping to keep this laptop for her entire college career. In the end, this policy has paid for itself.

Best Buy determined my laptop met the criteria for replacement, since it completely failed after about 4.5 months of use. However, these warranties are STORE CREDIT or REPLACEMENT ONLY. The terms — which aren’t well presented and are buried in 500+ Q&A entries or an obscure online PDF — show that they do not do cash reimbursement. This is disingenuous. When you’re buying the warranty, the product page proudly lists all the benefits, but never mentions that they don’t do cash or check reimbursement. Why hide that fact unless you don't want people to see it? And it gets worse. The warranty (depot) people tell you to talk to the store for anything even remotely related to replacement or reimbursement. When you talk to the store, they tell you that if you want any change in your warranty reimbursement or resolution, you need to talk to the depot. It’s absurd, anti-consumer, and dubious. At best. And here’s another one: if you call your local store number— you get the main call center. You have to press the right buttons in the automated menu to talk to the right person in the right department, who will then transfer you to the store. Yes, you are, in fact, meant to get the runaround. They just want you in THE STORE. I will tell everyone: do not buy anything that requires a warranty from Best Buy. Valuable products need warranties, and once you buy one from them, you’re trapped in their ecosystem and forced to keep doing business with them in the future. If you want a warranty for the replacement?? You’ll be right back on this page again.

Be Careful guys, Ever since the brought this Total Tech, or what ever they call it now, when you buy something, they try to push is Total Tech thing instead of their regular warranty. Regular warranty in my case was a 3year warranty for a laptop and the total Tech program is only for one year at 179.99+Tax. Almost double of what the 3yr is alone. You'll pay almost double the price. 3yr warranty price totally worth it IMO.

Geek squad is the best, I wouldn’t purchase an electrical Item without covering with the geek squad.

Definitely suggest getting protection on everything. My daughter had an issue with her computer and they had it fixed very quickly.

It’s a relief to have a coverage plan for my laptop! I’m always in a rush, especially with kids. Thank you Geek Squad for offering this along my laptop purchase!

Great customer service helped answer question explained difference between each laptop i was lookimg at and gave me great information to make my decisions easy

I purchased thos protection for this laptop i have not had to use yet but I purchased this protection for my old laptop and had to use it becaise i broke my screen. They fixed my laptop in a timely manner and fixed everything perfectly. This protrction is 100% worth it do not a laptop with out this protection. I literally broke my screen only a couple days after i purchased my laptop and im so happy i did!

I have had good luck with Geek Squad Protection plans. For me it is a MUST because I don't have to worry about anything happening.

They are repsonsive with any questions that I may have.
