Most products come with a one year manufacturer warranty but adding geek squad warranty definitely is extra and I would definitely recommend.

I purchased this warranty for my prior camera and had to have it repaired. Instead of repairing the camera the manufacturer decided I should just purchase a new one and the the entire cost of the warranty was refunded to me. Great customer service.
