DO NOT BUY!!!

The sound quality is fine, however within 3 months of purchasing the item, with light to moderate use, the Blu-ray player began to freeze; it will not play, it will not open, it will not produce sound. The only way to get it to reset is to unplug the device and re-plug it in. The frequency of the problem has gotten so bad that it now happens at least every other time I go to use it. I am SERIOUSLY disappointed with this machine, especially from a company like Sony. Best Buy has a terrible return policy, so we are now out $500 for a player that only works occasionally.

AWESOME HOME THEATER SYSTEM

I bought it at Best Buy a few weeks ago (haven't even gotten the bill yet). BUT... when I attempt to watch my new Samsung EN55JS8500 tv with Comcast HD DVR Box... the picture and sound keeps cutting out!! Previously I used the Samsung Blu Ray player and Samsung sound bar with no problems... (also used the ACR cable) without problem

Some problems with it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Main problem with 4K players is it's impossible (at least for me now) to find any true 4K movie to play with. For this one, it stuck once. No button works. I have to turn off/on the power. Software update failed. I called Sony and they said they will send software update with USB but never received.

How the mighty have fallen...

Last home theater system was a Samsung (it was a good deal and similar to my last Sony system). But it would shut itself off several times in the course of watching a movie. Went with the latest Sony theater system available and it's sure not like they used to be. This system has a nice surround sound and some decent features but, I've only had it three weeks and have had to unplug it a few times to restart it. Look for something better...

Horrible product. A waist of $500

However, to troubleshoot it, check the link below: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/49730. Also you could set the Quick Start Mode to ON under System Settings. It shortens the startup time from standby mode. You can operate the system quickly after turning it on. - Oscar.

Complete Disappointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After much research and against my better judgement(based on other negative reviews) i decided to purchase this unit. My last unit was a Sony and it was great so i figured id go for another one. What a complete disppointment. Negatives include; 1. need to turn th evolume way up for it to be anywhere near loud enough; 2. unit is unresponsive at times and will not change form one input to another. 3. rear wires are extremely short and needed to be cut and spliced in order to reach from one side of th eroom to the other. 4. remote control layout is poorly designed and difficult to work with. 5. when loading a disc the entire top portion of the unit raises and moves to the side. slow and annoying. the unit is not flat so you cannot place anything else on top of it. I am in no way a nit picker but this unit is terrible. Its so bad, after almost a month of trying to use it i give up and will be returning it to the store for store credit. Completely disatisfied in every way.

Super Low Volume

You'll waste your money and be horribly disappointed. Don't bother. This is garbage and it peaks at only 6 dB at 100% volume. Shame on Sony!

inconsistent perfromance

works great until it doesnt in 6months

This was only after 6months after an in store credit exchange from a samsung unit. And of course no refunds are allowed. Only in store credits after attempted repairs.

Sony fan, but not with this

The software is slow, and after about a year the Netflix and other content went away, now there is only a "browser" feature. Software is up to date etc. Blue ray player still works though.

Image does not work

The image came out when pressing HOME but did not start flashing. Then I returned it to the stores and ordered another one. The second one does not even project the image on the screen. I am returning the second one today and will look for another brand.

Epic Failure

We fixed it, he has been happy until the amplifier started to think that the hdmi signal from out xbox was a disc, it said the disc was scratched.

Good system when it works

Loved everything about it and the reviews. About 6 months into it it's either the volume doesn't work or you couldn't change the input. I called in to Sony a few times about the problem but they always told me to unplug it and plug it back in. That method worked but I'm still doing it and finally after 1.5 years it's time to get a new system. I do not recommend this product and looks like I'm no longer a Sony product guy.

So disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After reading specifications on both best buy and sony websites I decided to buy this product because it claimed to have wireless rear speakers. Without them I cannot use this product. As I was removing the parts from the box I noticed all the satellite speakers had wires attached. I then went straight to the manual only to see that all of the satellite speakers had wires. I painstakingly packed the parts back in the box as best I could and will be returning it asap. What a waste of time.
