I actually ordered this movie from another retailer, but after several delayed emails I decided to try Best Buy. I'm understanding of the pandemic causing delays but I needed it for a birthday gift and was concerned it wouldn't arrive in time. Best Buy not only fulfilled my order, but it arrived much quicker than I expected. I can't wait to give the gift, and I will be considering Best Buy first for future electronics purchases!

Personally, I thought 1917 deserved the Oscar for Best picture this year. I very much admired Parasite too, but 1917 grabbed me in a wonderful way. There were periods I felt myself"in the trenches" and"on the battlefield" with the characters. I saw this twice in the theater when it first came out and have watched it on blu-ray two additional times. I've shared it with a number of friends and every one of them also loved it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It is a must watch for cinematography nerds and casual movie watchers alike. I watched it twice when it was in theaters, and I highly suggest watching this movie on the biggest screen you have with a nice sound system. I purchased the 4k steelbook version of this movie and the design is slick and solid. I recommend the steelbook highly if you enjoy this movie!

This is a reference-quality 4K UHD Blu-ray experience with a gorgeous Dolby Vision transfer. The audio mix is intense and immersive. This the pinnacle of 4K Blu-ray! The story is excellent and well paced, the acting is impressive but the cinematography steals the show. You won't regret buying this disc. Highly recommended!

People will watch this movie for decades. Like "Citizen Kane" it provides you a relatively simple narrative but with dazzling cinematic acrobatics. Shot, mostly, in "real time" you follow the efforts of two soldiers sent on a mission to save a thousand plus comrades from impending slaughter. It's not a "who done it" so much as a "will it happen". Once this film starts ... you cant look away!

This purchase was well worth the money and then some! First of all the story is great. As a soldier who served in war myself I truly appreciate the lengths the director, storywriter, and actors went to in making this a very authentic telling of what war is like. Also this is shot in real 4K no digital intermediary, so it is visually as good as it gets. Add in Dolby Atmos sound and you a great recreation of a WW1 warzone!

With history being relegated to the foggy memory of those who ever had history classes in school, this movie brings alive the horror of a war which changed history, which influenced cultures, countries, perceptions, industry and science. This is not some game on your phone, this is a depiction of raw life.

“1917”, set in World War I is about 2 English soldiers sent across enemy lines on what is practically a suicide mission, and what happens along the way. The film appears as one continuous take, with no cuts. It’s brilliantly created, and very suspenseful, but maybe not for the squeamish. The 4K Blu-ray magnificently captures all the details, and with a great surround sound mix that conveys every effect

As Advertised this movie is one of the best War movies of all time. While it has a very simple theme, get the message through, it is the complex story of how that happens. The camera work flows so well through out the whole story, that it seems to be seamless. While not on the Level of "Saving Private Ryan" or " Band of Brothers" it still is a a stand alone Movie for its actual story. Very well Directed and Acted!!

Now THIS should have been my first 4k /dolby atmos movie to experience. I just recently upgraded my tv to a BX and got a soundbar with dolby atmos. I could hear the over head sounds, things pan from left to right. Etc. This PICTURE so dam crisp! This is what I wanted when upgrading. Also, this movie on it's own. Fantastic. The one take aesthetic makes you feel apart of it. Its intense. 10/10

A truly fantastic (as well as amazing) film! This is a war picture shot as a single take. Even though there are 17 or 18 cuts (all invisible) , filming each section nonstop had to be a nightmare to film. One mistake and they'd have to start over. What a task to film this, but boy does it ever pay off! This film is mind bogglingly sharp in 4K! The disc looks absolutely incredible!

This film is by Sam Mendes an excellent director. He bases this on tales his grandfather a WW 1 veteran told him. The plot is good, the horrors of trench warfare are displayed and the characters are people you care about during the progress of the film. On the Blu Ray DVD there are extras in how the film was made which are very interesting. If you’re into historical movies this one belongs in your collection.

1917 is a must own classic WWI movie. The first person narrative really helps to set this movie apart from other war movies. Great rewatchability. The 4K elevates the visuals, especially during daylight scenes, but with some of the nighttime scenes, the 4K resolution is not quite as noticeable. The audio on this 4K movie really sets it apart.

Watched 1917 only via the Blu-ray disc. Great movie, fantastic cinematic direction , color and sound. The movie provides a vivid and visceral view of the trials and tribulations of warfare in the early 20th century, the crudeness of the weapons and communication, what pride and courage looked like and the cruelty of death. The movie will have you asking why many times over.

This is an excellent war movie from a director (Sam Mendes) who for the most part always makes good films. One thing I really appreciated about the movie is that it is focused on England which is a nice change of pace from mostly American focused war movies. This is a great combo for the value as you get the blu ray, dvd and digital code. If you are a fan of war movies its a must have for your collection.

This is one of those war films like Saving Private Ryan where you learn and care about the characters in it. From what I can tell it was based on stories the director Sam Mendes' Grandfather told of WWI. The film doesn't look like any CGI was used and the sets are amazing. You feel like you are with them in that terrible place with trenches, barbed wire and traps all over. The video and audio are top notch!

This is an amazing WW1 story that takes place in real-time, in ONE continuous camera take! (Not really, of course, but the film effects and cuts make it absolutely seem that way!) The plot is personal and touching for many characters, as well as showing this war in a variety of both poignant and starkly brutal ways. One of the best war movies made.

Movie was excellent, from the acting to the filming. 1917 made you feel as though you were in WW1 with the actors, there is a reason 1917 is being hailed as one of the best war movies of all time and the fact that it's set in world war 1 which seemingly is becoming a forgotten war in time totally sold me on it. Check this film out I'm certain if you have an appreciation for this genre you will like this film.

This is one of the most impressive war films I have ever seen. It may not be as 'action packed' as other classics but the imagery is beautiful and the story really carries it along. You really care about the characters. The long continuous shots are very quite neat to follow along with when you notice them, as well. It almost feels like the entire film is just one follow-along shot.

This an unvarnished look at the horrors of war. The dilemmas faced are gut wrenching. The obstacles the star had to overcome are hard to watch and not watch at the same time. The video quality is outstanding. This movies sound-track is best enjoyed on a high-end surround system as that really adds to the impact of the movie. A story well told that exposes the moral dilemma of war more than the false glory.
