The xbox series S works great! The controllers are the problem. The first controller stopped working with batteries, so i bought rechargeable batteries. Which did not fix it. Geek Squad sent a "new" controller, which Microsoft said was refurbished. Best buy told me to call corporate. They can't send another because I was already sent a "new" controller. The A and B buttons on the second controller currently don't work. How can he play a game with no controller???

A Complete Letdown by Geek Squad at Best Buy, Sout

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with the Geek Squad at the Best Buy located at 261 W 2100 S, South Salt Lake City, after receiving a used and faulty Xbox controller shipped to my home. The ordeal, which spanned from Friday, April 19, 2024, to Saturday, April 27, 2024, was not only lengthy but also completely unsatisfactory.
Upon visiting the store, the Geek Squad manager explicitly stated he was “not emotionally invested” in resolving my issue. His indifference was shocking and completely unprofessional. Further adding to my disappointment, I spent over two hours on the phone, desperately trying to reach someone who could assist, to no avail. The lack of competent support and basic customer service skills was startling.
When I decided to leave the faulty controller with the Geek Squad team, the manager had the audacity to threaten to charge me for it. It’s baffling that a brick-and-mortar store can’t replace hardware that needs testing to confirm if it works. I deeply regret purchasing the Geek Squad protection plan. It has not only been a waste of money but has also caused significant psychological distress. This was probably my last time using any Best Buy product. I would have been better off financially and emotionally if I had simply bought a new controller elsewhere. This experience has completely eroded my trust in Best Buy’s Geek Squad, and I would strongly advise against relying on their services.

Geek squad is waste of money because most of the electronics will break after year 2/3 but more than that if u don’t use it you basically paid best but for no reason & therefore will be treated like a donation to them cause there’s no percentage of cash you’d even get back !!

A Souped-Up Xbox One

There’s a palpable sense of excitement that you usually get from hooking up a new game console that the Series X almost immediately lacks because its operating system and user interface are absolutely identical to the Xbox One. I wish the Series X had more of its own identity in that regard, but it’s certainly quick and easy to navigate. Aesthetically, the console is a bit of an eyesore. It’s basically just a big featureless matte black cinder block sitting under my TV. Some color variations or a slim model would definitely serve the Series X well.
That’s the extent of my gripes, though. Setting up the console was a total breeze, carried out almost entirely via the Xbox app on my phone, which was definitely a new experience. The controller is exactly what you’d expect, but Xbox controllers have been perfect since the days of the 360, so there’s no need to fix what isn’t broken.
The system runs noticeably faster and smoother than its predecessor, and it is absolutely dead silent. As in seriously, it does not make a sound. I took Halo Infinite for a spin (after beating it on my Xbox One) and the graphical and performance upgrades via the Series X were immediately apparent. It looked truly beautiful; almost three-dimensional and lifelike. I’m excited to see how it runs Jedi: Survivor.
The 1TB internal hard drive is nice at a glance, but I filled up over half of it after installing just six games. Additional storage is going to eventually be necessitated, but be aware that many external hard drive options can only store games that are optimized for the Series X; you’ll have to move them over to the console to actually play them, though non-optimized games will play just fine. But my hope is that better (and more reasonably priced) storage options are somewhere in the pipeline.
If you’re a longtime Xbox fan, you’ll find with the Series X that you’re essentially getting a faster and appreciably more powerful Xbox One, so whether it’s worth the upgrade is a decision for you. It’s been three years since it launched, and only recently has it finally started getting some games that require its horsepower and cannot also be played on the Xbox One (such as the aforementioned Jedi: Survivor). The quantity and quality of games (exclusive or multiplat) that can only play on a specific console are truly what determine whether you need to own it, and it seems like the Series X is only now beginning to justify itself in that respect. Older games that have been optimized for this system unquestionably look absolutely incredible. As with all consoles, it’s just going to be a matter of whether the available game library makes the Series X a must-buy or a pass for you.

I’m so glad I opted for Geek Squad Protection with my Xbox Series X! It gives me peace of mind knowing that accidental damage, power surges, or other issues are covered. Setting it up was simple, and the staff at Best Buy explained everything clearly. I feel confident that if anything happens to my console, I won’t be stuck with expensive repairs or replacements. Definitely worth it for anyone investing in a high-end gaming system!

I bought insurance for my Xbox and I feel very reassured by the protection it offers. Knowing my console is covered against any unforeseen event gives me a lot of peace of mind, especially since it's a significant investment. The activation process was quick and easy, and customer service was very helpful in answering my questions.
I hope I don't have to use it, but I'm glad to know that if something were to happen, I'd have a backup. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to play worry-free!

I purchased the 2 year warranty for the Xbox X and it covers alot. Hopefully my son won’t need to use that but I thought it was a great price compared to what other places have offered.

Extremely thankful for the option to add an additional warrantee, as we travel often for work! I am obsessed with how much coverage we get just by spending a little extra money.

My son’s xbox HDMI port broke. I called into my local geek squad. Within minutes I had an appointment and a real expectation of what to expect. Not only that, but they were 100 percent correct.
