The geek squad warranty is totally worth it. It isnt a third party warranty which is unique in the industry.

I am usually really happy with Geek Squad protection on most all the tech that I've bought at Best Buy. This time having coverage for my son's Nintendo Switch, I am severely disappointed. His Nintendo Switch was a few weeks old when the LCD screen went out due to a factory defect. The Switch was shipped out of state to where the units are worked on through Nintendo certified technicians, and it took a total of two to three weeks for the unit to get back to the store. They found the Switch was defective due to factory defect, and instead of Best Buy having a policy to just replace the Switch with a new one because of a factory defect, Best Buy's policy basically states, you get a "like new" refurbished unit (close to cost). You have to have two or three refurbished units break on you before they will give you a brand new one. Regardless that I spent $300 for a brand new Nintendo Switch, I do not get to have a new Switch for my son. Be warned if you choose to have Black Tie coverage for your Nintendo. I am now in the process of waiting another possible two weeks on receiving either a second used unit, or fixing the same used one to replace the brand new one I bought nine months ago.

Yo need to protect your system for accidents and for that you need to buy this

My son dropped his Nintendo in the water and geek squad was so helpful and it was a easy process it didn’t take long for them to ship it and ship it back to us it took only a week great service.

Best Buy charges nearly the same as Gamestop for a protection plan. The big difference is that Best Buy is selling an accident protection plan, while nearly everyone else is selling an extended warranty. An accident protection plan covers mishaps, where an extended warranty covers issues with workmanship that you somehow didn't notice during the manufacturer warranty period. I have kids, so I know which of those two is most likely to be an issue. Even if something did go unnoticed, it would be easy for an extended warranty to blame it on the scuff marks I sure these portable systems are going to receive in my kids hands. After all, even though my kids have miraculously not dropped theirs yet, I see adults drop and break cell phones all the time. If you're buying electronics for kids to use, this is your best bet.

I would always recommend getting the protection for any gaming system and not just the switch 2

Haven't had a need to use the extra service yet. But it is good to have peace of mind because the game console is used by kids who may not be very careful with it.

This game was a gift to my son for his birthday and the protection plan was a great addition to make sure he can enjoy it for years to come!!
