    I’m Best Buy offers a protection plan but I wish it covered 3 years (which is available online from Amazon). The Amazon price for the Nintendo bundle and their 3 year protection plan were both cheaper! But I prefer purchasing electronics from a local (brick and mortar) store where I can easily go for repairs-it’s much more convenient.

    My switch was kaput, i got a new one free

    My Nintendo Switch was broke. It made a geek squad appointment, walked in, gave the man my switch. He determined it was broken and I got a new one. The protection plan I had purchased covered the cost with one caveat. It was about one year and a week when I brought my broken switch in. I had purchased a two year plan. They had to cancel the rest of my two year plan (almost a year left) and charged me full price for a new two year plan. Now I paid for it because the switch seems like a device that breaks a lot - I barely played with this one and it got stuck in an endless boot loop - but now I've paid twice for a two year plan and am only covered for 3 years. I should have gotten four years or a partial rebate on the first two year plan I purchased. It said two year repair plan - not one time coverage plan. Other than the ridiculousness of the charging and/or not refunding the partial unused portion of the plan - the execution of the plan was great. Though the geek squad rep did tell me that I need to take the switch out of the dock every once in a while so it doesn't over charge - which also seems ridiculous as the device is meant to be docked as well as played with without the dock and I only used the dock it came with.

    Warranty would be better with more coverag

    I have always purchased my electronics from Best Buy because of their great warranty and the geek squad. I believe the rules have changed. Before, if it were under warranty, it was under warranty 2 years. Now if you use it once, that cancels the warranty. My son needed the charging port replaced 2 weeks after he got his Switch and they replaced the part but now I still have almost 2 years and ZERO protection. I even asked to purchase another warranty and they declined. The other side of that is both times I went to geek squad, I had an appointment with a confirmation number and both times the representatives were rude and short. Neither wanted the confirmation number and both handled my product very carelessly. They did have it back within 2 weeks. Best Buy used to be my only choice, just because of their customer service and warranty, but that has changed.

    I have bought the Geek Squad Protection a few times for different devices but I haven't actually had to use it thankfully. The last time I bought this protection I actually wish that I hadn't. It was for my nintendo switch. I received a broken model from the store, so I had to exchange it for a working one. They told me that if I got a broken one again, I would not be able to exchange it even though it was broken from the start. To avoid potentially losing a few hundred dollars, they said to get the insurance because this was the only way to ensure that I could have the option to exchange it if that happened again. I take care of my things pretty well, so I was a little frustrated to have to get this because of the risk of receiving a defective model out of the box.

    The insurance is nice but only thing I do not like is that after needing to use it ONCE it’s canceled after that!? You can’t bring anything back to continue getting fixed it you would have to re buy the insurance to cover it again I guess it works for others but it didn’t make much sense to me…

    Its great to have this protection. No doubt. But the problem is with how a repair claim goes. I had to bring in a switch lite because it would not power on. They sent it out for repair. It took 3 weeks to get it back. Im glad it was free, but 3 weeks is crazy

    hmm, not sure what I bought this for? now I gotta look into it since I don't see any relevant purchases. maybe I got suckered? however, I will attest that the service from BB and Geeks is usually pretty good, so I won't complain. their service does take FOREVER to fix things, but it's usually better than spending another couple hundred bucks on new product.

    I used the protection on my grandsons Switch lite. The turn around time was ok. I did not like having to get an appointment to bring it in. They need to have a walk in helpdesk without appointments,

    Always get the protection plan haha! Accidents happen. The kid broke his Switch. I was able to bring in get it replaced pretty easily. Little tip always make sure you take out the games and memory card

    Have not needed to utilize this service. However, when used with a tv in the past, it was a very simple process, with a fair outcome for us.

    Geek Squad protection use to be better, I believe it used to cover actual accidental damage before but now it only usually covers technical problems.

    The system is great, however the control is faulty. The first time we returned the entire console and lost all the games. This time we don’t want to loose the games but need to return the control.

    I would recommend the replacement plan. Just keep in mind for what device they added a deductible which differs on the kind of device so make sure and weigh that

    Usually don't play protection plans. But I plan to take my Switch with me a lot for opportunities to play when it arises. During the event of taking it out of my bag and outing it back in I foresee a high possibility of accidental damage in 1 or 2 years. So make sense for these type of devices.

    4 trips made and watch not repaired. Finally told to take it to the apple store. I called apple, they sent me a new watch and I sent them my old one. Best Buy could have done this for me. very disappointed. Must say, staff was nice

    Bought the 2 year geek squad plan for my nintendo switch. But my plan ended a few days before my switch broke. Had to call best buy to ask them to extend my warranty due to the covid-19 situation. Then I could send it in for repair.
