Great plan to have
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After we bought a new HP laptop we had to get two others and my PC tower all changed over to Windows 10 before Microsoft quit doing any updates on our Windows 7. Naturally we bought the Geek Squad protection in the event that we had any problems. We had to take all of them back in because things just weren't running right with each of the older systems The Geek Squad always came through and fixed the problems and we had our computers back in no time.

Well worth it.

I always try to get the max protection that geek squad offers because when they say that it covers everything they do. In the past they have repaired crack screens, spilled liquid damage, the blue screen of death and other things as well. Trust me this more than pays for itself, especially if there are children in the home who aren't as careful as you would wish them to be.

Couldn't make it without them!

All I have to do is call them and they take over. With the remote access they are able to access my machine and find and correct the problem every time. A lot of times they are able to just tell me what to do without taking over my machine. I live 50 miles from the nearest Best Buy/Geek Squad store and am far more confident with their expertise than what I can find locally.

Must Purcahse Geek Squad

All you have to do is give them a call or go online. No question they have not been able to answer for me. There has been several times i have messed up my computer (letting kids play games) where i end up just getting online and having geek squad fix it. They never treat me with disrespect or make me feel stupid. They would fix my computer and even offer different suggstions which helped me greatly! I will always have geek squad as my service.

Only store credit, questionable warranty practices
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy determined my laptop met the criteria for replacement, since it completely failed after about 4.5 months of use. However, these warranties are STORE CREDIT or REPLACEMENT ONLY. The terms — which aren’t well presented and are buried in 500+ Q&A entries or an obscure online PDF — show that they do not do cash reimbursement. This is disingenuous. When you’re buying the warranty, the product page proudly lists all the benefits, but never mentions that they don’t do cash or check reimbursement. Why hide that fact unless you don't want people to see it? And it gets worse. The warranty (depot) people tell you to talk to the store for anything even remotely related to replacement or reimbursement. When you talk to the store, they tell you that if you want any change in your warranty reimbursement or resolution, you need to talk to the depot. It’s absurd, anti-consumer, and dubious. At best. And here’s another one: if you call your local store number— you get the main call center. You have to press the right buttons in the automated menu to talk to the right person in the right department, who will then transfer you to the store. Yes, you are, in fact, meant to get the runaround. They just want you in THE STORE. I will tell everyone: do not buy anything that requires a warranty from Best Buy. Valuable products need warranties, and once you buy one from them, you’re trapped in their ecosystem and forced to keep doing business with them in the future. If you want a warranty for the replacement?? You’ll be right back on this page again.

Just a lil input

Once purchased its all Edge you cannot choose or have google as your search engine nor do you have google chrome which a lot of schools use for procturing with HonorLock for testing or homework submission. HonorLock btw is a horrible program it never works properly.

We were able to schedule a Geek Squad appointment online super easily. It is for the next day so that is convenient since my son needs his computer for college classes.

Geek Squad warrenty

Its easy to set up an appointment and Geek Squad make sure you understand everything and let you know what your options are.

Having The Service Is Worth It

I am not a millennial although I spend many hours on the computer during the week at my workplace, it's a difference when working on a personal laptop at home and I'm grateful to have a Geek Squad to assist and pull me out of a jam, provide one on one assistance with my laptops when needed. I've used them several times. Would recommend.

DO NOT BUY HERE

Now I am out $1250 and don’t have a laptop. I was emailed that I’d be refunded then after the fact they say I’m not. Will never buy anything here again.

Yes, I Buy These Warranties
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.For the amount of money spent on electronics in the first place, let alone replacement costs, getting additional protection is very worth it to me...more 3 years out, for many people who don't take good care of their gear, seems to be when they'd damage/destroy things anyway. You may not think it's worth it...so consider the cost of having to find and buy what you're getting all over again before you pass this up.

Geek Squad services is the best!

If you have a product under GS warranty and you have problems, you can return your item to Best Buy and get another equivalent product. I get GS warranties on everything I purchase from BB. However, I took 1 star away because if you don’t need to utilize your warranty for your product, you don’t get any percentage of your $$ back for it.

Better support than Microsoft Complete

I have taken 14 days time to decide upon Geek Squad support as I have researched on Microsoft Complete and Geek Squad, while Microsoft gives you 45 days of time to decide upon over Best Buy's 14 days policy, I found the support adds one more year at Best Buy for the same price as Microsoft gives only 2 years, while Best Buy extends one more year of coverage. Also, you could take back if there is any accidental damage. This is great.
