I think this is a great addition to the laptop for college students. However, it only covers accidents. Not if the operating system downloads a bad patch and gets corrupted. The salespeople do not mention this when they sell you this warranty.

I've several items with Geek Protection and love the Best Buy service.

For tree year protection I think it very reasonable.

This insurance is a scam. They sell it by telling you that they can repair your computer in store if it gets broken and if not they will replace it. This is not what they do. My son is a college sophomore and recently cracked the screen on his computer making it inoperable. We made an appointment at a local Best Buy and he took it into the store, The staff was rude including the GM and my son was told that it was not bad enough to replace and that they couldn't fix it in the store. The solution they offered was to send it out to be fixed and he was told he could expect his computer to be gone 7 - 30 days!!! He asked if there was a way to borrow a computer while his device is being repaired and was told absolutely not. I purchased this insurance, against my better judgement, anticipating that something like this might happen and unfortunately my better judgement was correct. Calls to their offices were not productive as the robots that answer the phone there would only regurgitate corporate talking points to me.

This protection plan is very helpful and a must have. Helps when you least expect

It’s good piece of mind to have this insurance on my new laptop.
