Horrific Best Buy / Geek Squad No-Service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchase a new Dell laptop and 3 year extended warranty in 11/2020. The hard drive died yesterday. I took made an appointment and took it into Geek Squad yesterday. The guy check it out and basically said, "Yeah, something bad is wrong with this." It's clear that that the hard drive is a goner. He then told me that they're going to have to ship my laptop off to someplace in Kentucky for further evaluation and that it's going to take 4 to 6 WEEKS before we'll know what the diagnosis is. I literally thought the guy was joking. I should have taken my laptop back right then but I didn't. What's the point in buying a 3 year warranty when it takes up to 6 weeks to get a laptop diagnosed. In the meantime, I'm going to have to buy a new laptop because I am a small business owner and cannot be without my computer. What's the point in purchasing a $350 warranty if it takes 4 to 6 weeks just to have my computer diagnosed -- which forces me to purchase a new laptop in the meantime? It's obvious that the hard drive is fried so they should have given me a credit for the amount of the original computer purchase (about $1,400) and allowed me to purchase a new one. I will NEVER purchase an extended warranty from Best Buy again. If we lived, perhaps, in some third world country, I could understand it. This is the most atrocious service I have every experience.

Accident Plan won't cover accidents

When I went to Best Buy in a complete panic, I was greeted with a ticked off tech, as if I should have had an appointment for an accident. This isn't like it was a toy, but a machine I use to work!!! Then, the manager was a complete jerk and told me I needed to have it professionally cleaned because it was a biohazard. This was after 45 minutes of them just trying to get me out of the shop to not have to deal with me. The manager tried to further intimidate us by speaking with the LP person at the entrance, as if we were some kind of threat?! I hope Best Buy goes out of business because this kind of service is unacceptable. Oh, and let's not forget the manager also told us he could do anything he wanted outside of the stated warranty because he's the manager. Forget contract law....he is the be all and end all. I suggest you buy you electronics from any other firm that cares about their customers and their needed work devices, as well as the associated protection contracts.

Was really looking for tech assistance which was an additional charge. Tech did take care of our first problem no charge. He went above and beyond. Thank you

First they said I needed to make an $80 deposit for it to be shipped out to the manufacturer and then I might have to pay extra depending on how much it costs to fix. After I reminded them I had an insurance, they switched up and said they could not find an insurance covering my device. I then pulled up a receipt and then they said it appears my insurance had been cancelled a few months ago. Avoid this service as much as you can. I learned my lesson the hard way. They cannot be trusted. Especially the ones from Bergen town Center
