I always spend the extra money and purchase the geek squad 2-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection on big ticket items just for the peace of mind. I have had to use a few times in the past and it has simply paid for it's self. I do not feel like there is any other protection plan like it out there due to the simplicity of the protection plan.
