Geek Squad has actually been the best value of any service I've ever used in the "warranty" category I guess. You can't beat the service offered or the ease in which it is to get a replacement. I had this on my laptop, and even with the struggles geek squad helped look up my item and found it and after attempting to fix it, instead of saying they can't help, they gave me a FULL REFUND in store credit. So nice

It's worth it. I have yet to go through an annoying experience with Geek Squad. My item is not doing well or defective? I head to the store, return it for a replacement, and I go home satisfied. However, the items I buy from Best Buy are usually gaming-oriented and small electronics, so I can't say anything about the larger items.

We decided to get the extended warranty on the external hard-drive, because it will be used mostly for music storage. So I would pay the cost whether used or not to get about 10yrs total out of the drive. Seagate actually has great reliability out of their external hard-drive units. So it's a personal choice ... I would still recommend for electronics today.
