It's worth it. I have yet to go through an annoying experience with Geek Squad. My item is not doing well or defective? I head to the store, return it for a replacement, and I go home satisfied. However, the items I buy from Best Buy are usually gaming-oriented and small electronics, so I can't say anything about the larger items.

I love geek squad warranties especially Accidental damage. You pay a small fee and if quite literally anything happens to it, it gets replaced for free and you can add another warranty on new item.

Loved having this to protect my products. Easy to use.

We decided to get the extended warranty on the external hard-drive, because it will be used mostly for music storage. So I would pay the cost whether used or not to get about 10yrs total out of the drive. Seagate actually has great reliability out of their external hard-drive units. So it's a personal choice ... I would still recommend for electronics today.
