Recommendation, always purchase a protection plan! I'd recommend Best Buy's plan over competirors because they cover the full price of the item. I nabbed a ps5 controller on sale and the protection plan covered the regular price cost. Its a little higher price plan for a shorter time. But others were only offering to protect the item at the price i paid.

Never buy a product without it. Sure, you could use the manufacturer's warranty, but this protection plan just makes things easier.

I got the plan for my xbox series x controller and it’s been the best investment for it. I can replace the original purchase instead of buying a new one every time I have issues with zero hassel or questioning as to why I’m doing my claim. Love the service. Awesome warranty! Best Buy honors it with almost no questions asked. They just need to know why you’re returning it but they aren’t going to deny your return. It has gotten more expensive over the years but it is still worth it for some items that are known to fail such as gaming headsets and controllers.

My Geek Squad service has always been stellar. Quite a few of us game in my family, and with that comes buying headsets. Unfortunately, we have begun to experience repeated breakages and issues with a specific brand. Upon the latest issue, we went to visit Geek Squad. Hoping to revert to an earlier style headset that did not require a USB dongle, I was disappointed to discover that it is no longer being manufactured. Luckily, however, a very well-informed geek squadder led me through an exhaustive explanation of alternatives and answered all manner of questions big and small, every day and entirely off-the-wall. I left knowing I had purchased the best option thanks to the informative, well-humored, and exceptionally patient Geek Squad employee.
