good customer service, and great value for your buck

Loving the Panasonic HC-V785K camcorder for Full HD Video (did not feel the need for 4K and larger files to edit on my Windows PC) quality and the larger sensor size. The auto-leveling feature shows a small icon and as long as you are within a few degrees of being level the video is digitally leveled automatically. I like the fact it accepts 49mm screw on filters so I bought some Neutral Density (ND) filters to reduce light in bright sun to avoid using smaller apertures (like F22 or F33) which can reduce sharpness due to diffraction. For those reviewers complaining of poor performance in low light, the word photograph means to paint with light. As a photographer for decades, I always control light by adding flash for photos (even outdoors when photographing people) or continuous lighting (bought axillary lighting for the included cold shoe) devices for video. This camcorder has a built in light which is decent for short distances of about ten feet....use it, it is better than nothing. Most image capturing requires the user to control the environment as much as possible, change shooting position, adjust aperture, use backlight setting, add light. The only issues I have are ergonomic. .1. Why is the auxiliary mic input only usable with the screen folded out? This prevents the user from closing the screen to put the camcorder in power off mode. Seems the mic input could have been placed near the cold shoe mount area or the headphone out area . .2. Why is the SD card only accessible from the bottom where quick release plates for tripods interfere with removal? Seems the SD card could be located near the hand strap. .3. Why is the battery release button only accessible with the screen open? With the quick power option enabled where opening the screen turns the camcorder on, the camcorder is on when disconnecting the battery which is not a standard convention for electronics (turn off, then remove power source). There are sun shades to put on the screen to help the user see it better in bright sunlight. Accessories matter.

I’ve been using GoPro’s since the original Hero. The Hero 9 is probably the most significant leap (model to model) that I’ve seen in the evolution of the Hero. The Hero 9 gained so many new useful features. The most obvious is the new design. Overall, the camera is larger which allows for a front facing screen and a larger battery. This larger form factor is a worthy trade-off for these two features. The rear touch screen is also larger which makes video playback and navigating system menus easier. Albeit, the touch screen can be finicky at times. With the new form factor, the camera also gains access to additional lenses (MAX Lens Mod), Hypersmooth 3.0, and horizon leveling. All three of these items can be combined to stabilize your footage in a way that is nothing short of impressive. This stabilization is by far the best stabilization GoPro has ever had in the Hero camera; by far. The sensor and colors of the camera have improved. The footage looks clean and vibrant. It still has a hard time in low light, but most cameras do. So, I can’t really fault an action camera for that. You can now shoot in 5K-30 and 4K-60. I’ve always been a fan of the time warp and time lapse modes if you’re into that sort of thing. Also, the camera will allow you to do a “scheduled capture”. This will allow you to configure the camera to start recording a scene at a specified time. For example, you could schedule it to record the sunrise while you stay in your tent and slumber. All in all, the Hero 9 is a great camera. Great job GoPro. You guys did good on this one. I’ve attached a video that shows some footage taken from one of my hikes in Red Rock Canyon. I have used the GeekSquad repalcement service before and it was a life saver. I ret assured knowing my OSMO PRO 5 is protected from accidental damage.

I had a Canon handicam which took a fall down a cliff and was pretty well bashed up. The LED screen broke off during the fall and the camera was really beat up. My stepson, who was using the camera, gathered up the camera and screen, returning the wrecked camera to me, with many apologies. I took it in to Geek Squad, who shipped it off with the comment "looks like it's non-repairable". About a week later, I received a phone call and email verifying the camera was totaled and credit would be issued at the store. Geek Squad was great, issuing a full refund via gift card which I used to replace the Canon. I highly recommend spending the money for coverage, especially the Accident Damage coverage, which will replace the unit if you have an accident. Saved me by giving me credit for the original credit on a new camera. And my step son was relieved he didn't have to pay for the replacement. If you don't get it, then any damage is your lose and total replacement is only going to be money out of your pocket.

I bought this product to use as a motorcycle helmet camera and it has worked perfectly! Unpacking the camera, I was wary about the weight because I didn't want it to interfere with riding, but after mounting it to my helmet I found that the weight was no problem. The picture quality is pretty good while the stabilization could use some work, but the camera still deserves 5 stars. Being on the more affordable end of action-oriented cameras it is wildly versatile.

Protected and always aware of your device , great service

My son loves this camera. He takes it everywhere and uses it to make videos while riding his scooter, or playing with action figures. Its easy to use. Its great battery life, compact size and all of the accessories make it truly a go-anywhere camera.

My son accident dropped my gopro max and shattered the screeand lenses. Glad I purchased the protection plan. Very worth it if you are buying expensive gadgets. Never had a problem and replaced my item very fast. The employee at the store was very helpful and very knowledgeable .

Just buy it in case you need it. Imagine having to replace at full price.

3-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection protects well

This insurance used to be great. I'm a professional filmaker and use this insurance for all our gopro's considering their application. We fly them on drones and mount them in athletes. If they break in an action sports crash, Best Buy would replace it with a gift card for a replacement. Key word: USED TO. My recent experience at best buy was the worst Ive ever had. With a broken gopro in hand they told me they changed their terms and my only option was to talk to geek squad and mail it to a repair center. I told them my insurance should be accidental replacement. The employee replied with "We can change things whenever we we want. Read the fine print.".. Wow! I asked if I could have my money back for this warranty they then told me they would pro rate it for the last month and a half I had left. They told me my gopro would be sent off for a week. It's almost a month and my gopro is still gone with no notifications or updates. On the paperwork it says that "gopro recommended it be sent in for repairs". This seems so dishonest to me. Please do yourself a favor and DONT BUY THIS INSURANCE if you are planning on buying a GoPro. Go straight to gopro for your purchase where they actually care about supporting their products.
