    Purchased this for every camera that i own, so far from 3 Years of experience i am very happy with the customer service that i recieve! Had problems with my previous gopros and best buy took care of me because of this warranty

    DO NOT BUY FOR GOPRO/ not a replacement warranty

    This insurance used to be great. I'm a professional filmaker and use this insurance for all our gopro's considering their application. We fly them on drones and mount them in athletes. If they break in an action sports crash, Best Buy would replace it with a gift card for a replacement. Key word: USED TO. My recent experience at best buy was the worst Ive ever had. With a broken gopro in hand they told me they changed their terms and my only option was to talk to geek squad and mail it to a repair center. I told them my insurance should be accidental replacement. The employee replied with "We can change things whenever we we want. Read the fine print.".. Wow! I asked if I could have my money back for this warranty they then told me they would pro rate it for the last month and a half I had left. They told me my gopro would be sent off for a week. It's almost a month and my gopro is still gone with no notifications or updates. On the paperwork it says that "gopro recommended it be sent in for repairs". This seems so dishonest to me. Please do yourself a favor and DONT BUY THIS INSURANCE if you are planning on buying a GoPro. Go straight to gopro for your purchase where they actually care about supporting their products.

    Ordered a laptop and got the geek squad protection plan for 2 years which would have ended on 09/14/2020. In 04/20, I called that my laptop battery was not holding a charge. They told me I had to bring it in. I asked we are in the middle of covid. They said I would have to wait. I called again in 06/20, they said i had to go in but then not only covid, but then riots at my local best buy and I couldn't even go in. Now my protection plan is up and I still need a battery. I called because they said I could get an extension. I called around 9 am, was on hold for 45 minutes and then transferred to a different department and then was hung up on. I called back 30 minutes later. I had to explain the whole story again, they transferred me again and after waiting for 30 minutes, got hung up on. I called again and got a really nice person, didn't have to wait that long, but had to tell my whole story again. Only to find out that I cannot get an extension. So my review for this is that it SUCKS!

    I recently purchased a headset from Best Buy and got the 2 year protection plan. I was rushed through the terms and conditions and told that this plan covered damages to the headset. After 10 days of casual use I took the headset off after a long day and heard one side crack and break. I called my local Best Buy immediately thinking this would be no trouble as I had only had the headset 10 days at the time and had purchased the protection plan. After speaking to a member I was told this only covered internal damages to the headset. Then I was told since I was the one who damaged the headset there was nothing they could do, not even the replacement which is all I wanted. I am in no way blaming Best Buy for the quality of the headset this is in no way their fault. What I am very disappointed with is how they handled this issue. Feeling blamed for breaking my headset when I am a freak about proper tech care felt very unwelcoming and the fact that I have had the headset for just 10 days after purchasing the protection plan and being told I can not even get a replacement for external damage makes this plan feel rather pointless. I have loved Best Buy ever since I was a kid, I usually recommend it to friends, family, and co-workers but I no longer feel comfortable recommending this service or the store in general in fear they may have the same thing happen to them.

    2 Year protection Plan

    Taken my sons gaming computer in for repair 4 times. Have not fixed it each time I pick it up today geek squad assures me the problem has been fixed. I picked up my sons computer from being repaired they assured me the problem was fixed get it home to find out the computer has the same issue. It was not fixed. This last 2 time we took the computer in to fix the power button the computer would not turn on properly you have to fight with it to get it to turn on. Get it home same problem. Only now few more issues. Received the computer back in worse shape that it was in when we dropped it off for repair. Screws loose now on the side that hold the glass in place was not loose when it was dropped off, the computer very dirty and white paper stuck to to the glass like there was stickers stuck to it that they tried to peel off and could not get off. Now the ports on back are loose was not loose when it was taken in for repair. The computer is in worse shape than it was when it was dropped off for repair a month ago. I do not recommend taking anything there for repair.

    Weigh cost and options before buying.

    I purchased the 3 year replacement for my GoPro and weighing the option of the Geek Squad Protection vs the GoPro Subscription I would probably go with the folks who made the product. First of all with the GoPro plan you get unlimited cloud storage free. Having that backup in case my camera is lost or stolen is big. I took my GoPro Max in due to an issue with it not recording at times. I was told no Geek Squad Tech was working and that I could schedule to have my item brought in and ultimately sent off for repair. The morning of the appointment I get a random text that said my appointment was cancelled with no explanation. With GoPro you contact them and they send you a label and you get a refurbished camera back in a few days. Had my appointment not been canceled I would have had to return to the store then again go back to the store to pick it up. And as luck would have it my closest BB is on a soft open while they renovate so this service is not available there so I had to drive an additional 20 minutes up the road to get to the next closest store. Now you are paying $50 a year unless you catch a deal on the GoPro Subscription which puts you $30 more than Geek Squad. Also you have to pay a Trad-In fee which will be up to $99 depending on the device but it's hassle free. Also you can do this twice a year. With the Geek Squad plan it's one and done and you have to pay another $120 after you swap the camera out and it is at their discretion if you devices is replaced or they determine it is functioning as intended. Now if this had been a replacement plan I would say absolutely go for it but as a "repair" plan I would go with the manufacturer.
