Sony will make you pay $12 shipping to return a defective controller, at least this way you get one right away, no wait.

I tend to have issues with controllers giving out on me so it is good to have coverage for 2 years.

Even if it’s just for the battery replacement, the $20 plan will pay for itself 5x over once you use it.
