Extended warranties: worth it or not? It's up to you, but for electronics, I think it can be well worth the extra charge. In this case, I bought the Roku on sale, so the cost of the coverage about equalled what I save. Since the cost was not a huge percentage of the purchase price, I think it's worth it, but some people never buy them. My first HDTV died after about three years, and I was very glad I had the extended warranty for that. It saved me about $1200 (original cost minus the cost of the extended warranty). Plus, I got a TV that was brand-new and had newer technology. For the Roku, I mainly got it to avoid having to deal with the manufacturer if there are any issues. It's just easier to go back to Best Buy and swap it out if there is a problem.

Any time I have had to replace an item, Best Buy does it right away without any hassle. I always buy extra protection on everything over $20. It’s well worth the peace of mind.

Geek Squad protection is like insurance... rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Purchasing Geek Squad protection has paid off for me!
