Geek squad is the way to go!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So, this is a little tricky for me. We love Geek Squad and my husband has an account as well. We had to purchase this GS Protection because we could not purchase our new TV and get the appropriate protections under my husbands account with GS. No matter how we tried to place the order under my husbands name, Best Buy could not get the full warranty to show up because my husband already had GS and it wouldn't allow the full warranty to kick in on the new TV??? So, the only way to get the full warranty was to purchase the TV in my name and also start a GS account in my name, and now we have two. Not terrible, but I think this is a little shady and there should be a workaround. Speaking with the GS reps that came out to deliver and install, they also agreed that this shouldn't have been an issue.

Best protection plan from my favorite store
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am disabled and in a wheelchair, I purchased a 50 inch TV and almost 2 years ago and I thought that if I had an issue with it, but when I called about it they said that due to the size I qualified for in home service. The rep who came was very nice and helpful and answered all of my questions too. I plan to renew my extended warranty with Best Buy and I am happy that Best Buy now keeps a record of all of my purchases so I don't have to keep track of a faded receipt to make a claim on my extended warranty. I also got one for my sound bar and because they didn't have that particular type they said that they they will give me the next upgraded version of what I had.

Top of the line service

Ryan and Dimitri were awesome. great job easy to deal with. Took a week to call, get an appointment to come to the house, assess, replace and correct problem. Really fast turnaround. So glad i got the coverage!

Great Coverage

Well if the manufactures warranty is 1 year and the TV gets hit by lightning surge and Fry's the circuitry 1 year and 1 day later you are out of luck. If you have one of these plans your covered.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A week prior to getting the protection i was offered it at the time of purchase and i got an extremely cheap open box 4k sony tv and the price of it brand new was $2500, the open box item i was buying was $700 and at the time our purchase they wanted to charge me the protection of a $2500 tv which came out to $550 for 5 years protection, so i went in a week later and a young man helped me get it figured out and I got the protection for the price that I had actually paid for and I was very very satisfied!!!!

Peace of Mind

My warranty had expired ( 6 year old TV). Having the warranty gives me peace of mind that within the next 3 years I have coverage for any replacement issues.

Extended warranties, pros and cons

We purchased a Sony DLP set in 2007 from Best Buy and took the extended warranty. One week before the extension expired they had to replace the entire video engine. The parts alone were $1,500 and I don't recall the labor but it wasn't inexpensive. We were covered (I don't recall if there was a small service fee or not) and saved 6 to 8 times more than the cost of the warranty. Some say if nothing goes wrong in the first 90 days with electronics nothing will go wrong for many years. Well that's true in many cases and in other cases such as ours we have seen it's not true. You can look at this as insurance and weigh the annual cost of the warranty against the risk that nothing will go wrong. However, consider the fact that when something goes wrong with high tech electronics, especially in large sets, repairs can be rather expensive. It's a personal decision and also depends on whether you have the money or desire to pay up front. It worked for us in the past at least.

Frustrated!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just purchased a new Sony 75'' tv and the 2 yr extended Geek Squad warranty. Brought it home myself. They wanted 200.00 buck's to deliver and set it up. I got a friend to help with unboxing and set up. " It takes two people to unbox and set up this big tv. " Out of the box the new Sony TV has a bad Pixel. Red dot with a line all the way across the screen. First, I was asked to bring it back in for exchange myself? Of course I said no, I purchased the "Geek Squad Warranty ". They told me if I had any issues they'd come to my house and fix it.! Long story short. Even though I purchased the " Geek Squad Warranty " where they said they would come out and fix my tv at my house for no charge,... they said because it's still covered by the manufactures warranty they would have to send it back to the manufacturer for repairs! Could take weeks. They will exchange it and deliver me a new tv at no charge and set it inside my house and pick up the old new tv but that's it. I will be responsible for unboxing and setting up the new tv again myself and disposing of the big box and all of the packaging. Also, today is the 4th of July 2024, my appointment for receiving my replacement TV is 7/17/24, 13 day's from now and the the so called NARROW appointment window on the 17th is 7 am to 7 pm.!! Really?? Lol. I need to be available for 12 hours? Is the best we can do? I'm glad I have the warranty or I'd have to box this thing back up and return it myself but I'm disappointed that I got a defective tv, that's on Sony. I paid big buck's for what I expected to be a top Quality product! I'm also disappointed that Best Buy won't just come out and fix this TV, that's why I paid for the warranty! So I wouldn't have to go through all of this hassle with returns, exchanges etc.
