Great Film, Awesome HDR 4K Transfer of a CLASSIC!!

When u have the right tv (almost) every time u watch a movie u have seen before but now are watching it on 4K it’s like watching it for the 1st time again.

Great Film but bare bones release. There is no digital copy to this particular edition. This also has none of the lobby cards that other editions had. There are however three discs to the set. Spend the extra $8 to get the code.

This 4K UHD release is stunning! Absolutely perfect picture quality. Very find detail, exquisite color balance and contrast, zero artifacting and only a bit of natural film grain where it should be. Blacks are inky without being crushed and highlights are bright without being unnatural or blown out. Scenes with bursts of color (like the main CPU room and the infinity sequence) are mesmerizing. The soundtrack is clear with a wide sound field and good dynamic range. If you have a large 4K TV, this can be your new reference disc. Oh, and if you haven't seen the film, be ready for something you've never seen before and will likely never see again. Highly recommended.

I don’t remember it being as long as it was but for its time. Very good. Even in Dolby Vision and 4K. Makes it look less than 10 years old.

Man, this movie is great. While the film has plenty of surprises for the viewer, I actually find it’s a movie where it’s better to know more about it going in. There’s a lot of weird, surreal imagery which could leave the viewer puzzled on first watch, but the themes of where mankind has been and where we could be headed will cause anybody to stop and wonder. The 4K transfer looks incredibly. The movie is half a century old and it looks like it could’ve come out in the last decade (compared to other movies form the last decade that were shot on film).

Thats how I feel watching this movie. A must watch for Kubrick or sci fi fans but again, what did I just watch.

From the moment I heard that Christopher Nolan was working on restoring and upgrading the quality on 2001: A Space Odyssey, I wanted to see it. First on the theaters and, obviously, to buy it on 4K. I don't normally invest in 4K because I don't see the difference, but I couldn't take the risk with this classic. This is the best Sci-Fi, so you have to experience it the best way possible. Also, the Steelbook version that Best Buy presented is top notch. Highly recommended.

I'll be honest with you. I love this movie, a classic Kubrick masterpiece, so artfully made, blah blah blah. I have nothing but the same glowing remarks to make about this movie that you will read from a million other reviews of this movie. My guilty secret? I put this on when I'm suffering from insomnia because it usually knocks me out in 30 minutes or less. If you buy it for that purpose, I suggest using your TV's sleep timer to turn the TV off after an hour so that you don't wake up staring at the menu screen.

I was not ready to have my mind blown when I bought 2001 on 4K disc. I knew that it had received a great transfer based on the reviews, but the experience of watching it was beyond my reasonable expectations. Quite frankly, it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had watching a catalog title in 4K. The image really shines with the expanded color palette that only 4K can deliver and the sound mix is top notch for a film of its age. If you like this film, then I highly recommend purchasing the 4K disc.

If you enjoyed this in the past you owe it to yourself to upgrade to the 4k version. Holds up wonderfully.
