I had to give this product five stars because it looks great, and thats what a trim kit is for! That being said, there are some things to keep in mind. I ordered both the trim kit and the LG microwave from Best Buy and both arrived within a few days. I am satisfied with both products. I used this kit with LG - NeoChef 2.0 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave with Smart Inverter and EasyClean - PrintProof Black Stainless Steel. I reviewed this product separately. The trim kit cost 279.99 before tax, which is more than the microwave cost!, which if you try to think about this logically causes angst, but I was able to rationalize this away by telling myself it was a onetime expense and it makes the kitchen look way better than the trim kit/microwave combo that was in my kitchen cabinet previously. My previous microwave quit working and had to be replaced. Now about the installation. All you need is a screwdriver, some patience, and it is a do it yourself, but have a second person handy unless you are very handy yourself. There are a few technical details I would like to share. The bottom duct piece attaches to the microwave and to the cabinet so it becomes firmly attached. This is straightforward. The side duct, and upper duct pieces are held together by three tabs which you insert and bend, and then there is double sided tape which sticks this piece to the side of the microwave (along with a single screw at the bottom). The top bracket then fits on to the upper duct. This part of the assembly is especially awkward and feels flimsy. Proper alignment is difficult. This is the part where it is good to have an assistant. It seemed like this assembly could have been one solid piece with screw fixation to the microwave instead of double sided tape???, but maybe it allows some flexibility for cabinet variations? I think they used sticky tape instead of a screw to fix the duct to the side of the cabinet for aesthetics in case the microwave was used as a countertop microwave instead of a cabinet microwave. Just guessing. If the engineers just simplified the side duct /upper duct/top bracket part of the installation (Keep it simple!) I would not even question the cost. I don't understand the anti tip bar function. At least in my cabinet there is no way for the microwave to tip. Maybe in some situations this matters. In any case, I did install it without any difficulty. The front black stainless frame then just snaps on and is held in place with screws. The finished product looks great! The frame exactly matches the microwave. I tried to include photos but because of reflections I could not get a picture that did it justice. My rating of the finished product is five stars, but unless the installation side duct/upper duct issues I described above are properly addressed, I think the price should be reduced by about a third to a half.

Perfect fit but seriously pricey. Get ready for fingerprints - they WILL be there. (Too bad a kit didn’t come with the microwave.). When you purchase 4 thin pieces of metal and pay as much as you did for the microwave it’s kind of a necessary evil.

The Trim Kit fit perfectly around my LG microwave. It’s sleek, adds a nice modern look to our kitchen, and its shade of stainless steel matches all of our other appliances from other brands. The only downside to this trim kit in my own experience is the slight opening at the top. I’m sure this kit is intended to border microwaves that sit above the stove, or even above an oven, but ours sits under the countertop, and blends into the cabinet. Because of this, bits and pieces of food get trapped in between the trim kit when we clean off the countertops. Definitely be aware of where you place your kit, and how that partial opening at the top should be factored into your cleaning routine. Otherwise, it's beautiful, albeit expensive.

So far so good. Only thing i would complain about is the cost. To get the trim kit with the microwave is pricy, but they all are. So far i love the microwave (all 3 weeks of it)

The contracted installation vendor was a disaster

The LG microwave oven and matching trim kit recommended by the Best Buy sales staff are both great. But the contracted vendor for installation was a disaster sending two young men who obviously did not know what they were doing who erroneously claimed that it was not the right trim kit, and then in the next visit correct wood in my kitchen counter. I love Best Buy but will never allow this contracted vendor in my house again.

    Poor Instructions

Very poor instructions. New microwave is replacing a bigger one and didn't know needed to attach bracing to cabinet, so have to add wood strip within the measurement of the pieces. No easy to install, but once installed, it does look good. Expect a lot more from LG!

    It Works, but...

This trim kit was purchased with a LG microwave to replace a built-in Kitchen Aid microwave that failed. I was able to make it work but the space between it and the oven (below) is substantially less than with the Kitchen Aid. The reason: the old microwave was vented on the bottom, raising the microwave, while this one vents on the top. A bit of carpentry work was required to modify the cabinet to make it work. It would have been helpful if the online installation instructions were more complete with all dimensions shown. The price was outrageous - much more that the microwave for a few pieces of stamped metal.

    Easy Trim Install

Relatively straightforward to install. Looks great, although prone to fingerprints. Not sure why the trim has to be even more expensive than the microwave itself, but there wasn't really any other option. I am not a carpenter and consider myself a relatively novice DYI person. This was a replacement microwave for a broken built-in and I was very lucky that the cutout happened to fit perfectly.

We purchased this Kit as we replaced our old white microwave installed in the cabinet. The opening in the cabinet had to be increased to accommodate the kit and microwave that we had purchased. My husband was able to do this with a router and extra long bit. We like the look and with the LG microwave, it is a very sleek appearance.

The trim kit cost more than the microwave! Fits the oven well and quality was good. Had to make a few modifications to fit our cabinet. Tech Support from LG was very good. Builder ordered and installed wrong cabinet. Fairly complicated to install. Had the cabinet installer install the trim package and with a few suggestions from me and my assistance we finally got it installed.

Trim kit is a bit of a pain to install. The cut outs work well but the instructions are lacking. The trim pieces have to have something to mount to and the instructions just show screws gowing to nothing.

I gave this review a 4 star because the product itself comes with simple instructions, was exactly as shown and was delivered by Best Buy quickly, efficiently, and without damage. The only downside was the shock of this sticker price. I found it oddly absurd that the microwave with all the electronics and glass was less expensive then the plastic and metal cover plate. Guess that's a luxury tax I just was not expecting.

The included directions are worthless. The installation is time consuming. After dry fitting the pieces, it appears thatt he kit is designed so that the base sits flush with the front of the cabinet. If the front of the cabinet is higher than the shelf, you will need to either cut the front down to shelf level or build up the bottom to raise the bottom level with the cabinet opening. We opted to build up the rear of the base with two 2x4s and an excess piece of toe kick to get the base level with the front of the cabinet. By building up, we maintained the cabinet reveal around the trim that we would have lost if cutting down. LG needs a better and cheaper solution since the trim kit costs more than the microwave.
