    According to other geek squad guys, it doesn’t cover what the one that sold it to us said. So I wouldn’t recommend it, based on that.

    I bought 3 chromebooks and 3 warrantys on line in November. We live in a remote area and the closest best buy is 3 hours away. One of the hinges broke on the chromebook and I was told the only way it could be fixed is if I bring it to the store. I bought it online because I do not live near a store. So basically I bought 3 warrantys totalling a little over 130 dollars and they do me no good unless I drive 6 hours round trip to drop of the chrome book. Biggest joke ever will never shop best buy again.

      Hi wolffie – It is true that we would need to get hands on with your computer in order to get it sent off for service or a replacement. We should be able to ship the repaired unit back directly to you, however, so you’ll only need to make one trip.     Bought this along with my $1600 surfacebook. Up front Best Buy will bend over backwards and promise you everything with this protection plan but when it comes to actually getting help they give you attitude, a hard time, and makes it seem like they don’t have time to help you. It’s like you have to beg for their time as if you didn’t just pay $200+ for the protection plan. NOT WORTH IT

    They did a good job with mounting my tv however when it came to my computers repairs they always find a way to not do anything to help or up charge you.

    Dropped chromebook off at our local store for repair. We had it sent to a store near my daughters college for pickup once fixed. Only worked for a little while after and then was never able to turn on again. We were told we are now outside of warranty. Purchased 08/2018 and had a 2 yr accidental protection.

    I have used geek squad before in the past and they have done phenomenal work, only thing is I just bought a computer not too long ago and got the 2 year plan, yet it seems that the only proof I have is carrying the receipt around. I know I am going to lose it within 2 years, don't understand how they cannot seem to find it by using my best buy credit card I signed up for or have it attached to my account.

    Geek Squad team at the Montrose, Oh store is ineffective, they lack knowledge in common sense setup for laptops. They had to re-do our TWO computers twice. They sent us home with a computer that we bought that had a damaged hard drive and they admitted they knew. After exchanging it for another one, they sent us home with a password on the device that kept the computer provisioned for the store demo. It was ridiculous the hours and meetings we had to have with them to get resolution. I won’t buy Geek Squad EVER again.

      This certainly does sound like a frustrating experience, and far from the level of service we expect to provide our customers.     cancelled this as 2 years was going to cost me $189. that is almost the price I paid for the laptop. they will let you cancel but the refund took an entire 10 business days.

    Repairs are a hassle

    It is very difficult to get service through the plans sold by Best Buy. Some people may benefit from going into the store to drop a product off and then picking it up when it is is fixed. As for me, I would just as soon mail it in, a service that Best Buy offers but that I didn't know about during the ordeal of getting my laptop repaired, which took about a month. As for the repair itself, they did half of what I requested, the other half they didn't address at all, and now my camera switch doesn't work. One thing I learned after it was too late to return the plan is that even though I purchased my laptop at Best Buy, I could have bought a plan through HP. I mean, the moment you turn on a new computer you get lots of offers by HP to buy one of their plans. Oh well, I learned my lesson.

    Was not offered when I purchased product. Thankfully I was able to buy but it was pretty expensive. Like I said, needed for a product like this.

    This piece of trash . Nov 5th, 2024 delivered. Yeash don’t work and we’re only on March 4th. 2025. Stopped working over a week and a half. Wasted money on Laptop and Geek Squad service. Can’t get money back for either service. Do not buy!!!!! Won’t turn on after Lenovo update!!!!

    Needed to replace my charger for my chrome book through my protection plan. I was on hold for 30mins Until I was able to talk to a rep at geek squad. Told him what I needed, He transferred me to another department, after talking to that department for 30mins he said he needed to transfer me back to geek squad. Was I hold for another 30mins just to have someone hang up on me. Didn’t get anything resolved.

    BAD Geek Squad Customer Service!

    I took my Chromebook in because it quit working and it would not charge. I was ignored and told that I had to buy the $199.00 the Geek Squad Service Contract to be helped! Talked to Geek Squad person out on the floor and said if I had an extended warranty they send it to their repair shop and they would repair it or send me a new Chromebook. We went back to the Geek Squad and he talked to one of the Geek Squad and told him to help me with a Repair order and he kept saying to hold on for a few minutes while he helped another customer and eventually I left when he said I needed to make an appointment, for a Repair Ticket! That was bad Customer Service in my book!!! I won’t go back to the South Wadsworth store!

    I bought an ACER Chromebook. The chromebook was defective. I bought an ASUS Chromebook when I returned it. My insurance "that I paid for" should not have been used for something that was bad when I got it. They would not switch the policy to the ASUS. I don't like wasting money, and dealing with your store policies is a waste of both time and money.
