Broken Wifi Card, Weak Battery, and a Hot Mess

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I ran into several issues with this laptop. The first is the worst, and that was the Wifi card. I keep losing my internet connection every 2-3 minutes, and I can only fix it temporarily by going into the Network Settings and using the Windows troubleshooter. This cycle keeps on repeating though, making it virtually impossible to get any work or gaming done. The battery life is also lower than I had hoped. Even with casual use, and no gaming, it still drains somewhat fast. This laptop also tends to get very hot, as the fans will often turn on randomly, even with no gaming occurring. I also experienced many issues with Windows 11 on this laptop, but they may be attributed to Windows 11 only, so I'm not too sure. The laptop wouldn't turn on after sleeping though, and there would be frequent frame glitching. Overall, I've been very disappointed with this laptop, and even on sale, it wasn't worth it. I'll be returning this laptop and buying a different brand. 1. Battery life - It's not terrible, but it drains faster than I had hoped, even with just casual use. 2. Heat - This tends to get pretty hot, and the fans will turn on randomly sometimes, even when not running any games. 3. Wifi Card - I believe that my wifi card is most likely defective, as it keeps losing internet every 2-3 minutes, and I have to go into the network settings to get it fixed. This makes it virtually impossible to get any real work done, so I'll be returning this laptop and purchasing a different brand. Overall, I'd avoid this one

Beware of Promises of Best Buy Sales Team

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Salesmen made big promises to me in June when I spent $5K on tv and sound system equipment which I paid for in full upon receipt of my first bill. Geek Squad has cancelled on me multiple times or just did not show up. Bethel Park PA store manager has been non-responsive to my email and telephone call. Covid as an excuse can be used only so many times. I still am waiting for my universal remote control to be programmed so that I can use my zone 2 sound system. Salesmen promised that Geek Squad would educate me with my systems. Salesmen will not answer my emails, texts, or telephone calls. The customer service representative at the corporate office took my report and said she would help me but that promise has failed as well. My next appointment is supposedly scheduled for the first week of January. Seven months is too long to wait for a fully operational sound system that has been paid for in full.

Buyer Beware of Refurbished Computers at Best Buy

    Posted .

When looking at new computers, was told by the sales person that "refurbished" computers were just ones returned by the customer and "refurbished" by the manufacturer and then resold with a full warranty. Ordered the Dell Latitude 7250 for $339.99 because it was the size we wanted. The computer seemed to work fine, but we had some issues with Microsoft account. Could not get a real person at Microsoft so tried to call Dell for technical support. Dell informed us using the service tag that the "warranty" was no longer valid since the computer serial number showed the computer was over 7 years old. We then noticed from the documentation that came with the computer that it was not refurbished by Dell but some 3rd party company who refurbishes computers and sells them thru Best Buy. It had a 1 year warranty thru that company but was still a 7+ year old computer for $339.99. Would never pay that much money for a computer that was over 7 years old. Feel this is deceptive of Best Buy to not disclose the age of the "refurbished" products.

    Broke My Laptop Beyond Repair

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought a 2-year warranty. Near the last few months, my laptop had a very small loose hinge issue. All they had to do was fix the hinge. Instead they removed my SSD (and did not return it), broke the webcam and mic, went through my PERSONAL files, destroyed the speakers, and the final attempt to fix it they busted the screws so bad that it was no longer possible to reopen the laptop for repairs. The laptop was sent out 3 times. Each time more things were wrong when they returned it. This was a perfectly functioning gaming laptop with a loose hinge and they destroyed it. They then would not let me take my laptop and recredited the amount I paid not including the $200 spent on the warranty that I used to destroy my laptop. Definitely do NOT use them and dont bother wasting your money on a warranty.

    Waste of money and time

I bought the three year protection for my laptop and a few months ago I went in for a repair. They got my information wrong and I didn’t hear anything for a month. Then after calling and finally getting ahold of someone they got the right information and finally sent it out for repair. Another month goes by and I still haven’t heard anything from them. I call them again and after hours of calling different numbers and waiting I finally got a hold of someone who told me that my laptop couldn’t be repaired. I went into the store after that and they gave me a $200 gift card after having paid nearly $900 for the laptop plus the protection. The employees were rude and never seemed to care. I’m a full time college student and this whole experience really didn’t help since classes are starting back up.

Service was not up to par

I brought my computer in due to virus. Geek Squad downloaded all my data to my back up drive. After repair, they could not get the load the data back to the computer as my password would not work. They do not have the knowledge to retrieve my data from the backup drive, which is encrypted, so I lost all my photos and data.

Placed a order on line for laptop on 12/20/2023 and the promised delivery date is 12/22/2023; nothing delivered on 12/22 and got a text message instead from BestBuy saying it is delayed and will be delivered between 12/23/2023 and 12/26/2023; again nothing delivered on 12/26/2023; called BestBuy customer service 18882378289 on 12/26/2023 and was told he will get an email response to me on the order status in 24 hours. In 24 hours, received nothing(no email, text or phone) from Best Buy. On 12/28/2023, called the customer service again, this time was told will get me feedback in 7 to 10 business days. I am speechless when I got that type of response. Is this the way Best Buy treating their Customers?

Graphics card issues from the get go, will return

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Right off the bat, the laptop started freezing (I couldn't even complete the setup wizard), causing a restart with chkdsk. I ended up having to reinstall Windows, and the problems continued. Any time I try to use an application that substantially utilizes the dedicated GPU, the laptop seems to struggle during the switching between the integrated and dedicate graphics: the screen goes blank for a moment, application windows don't redraw correctly, sometimes Windows freezes, the keyboard and mouse are non-responsive and then they work again, and some other times it just freezes entirely and it either blue-screens, or I have to force-shut down. I researched solutions and tried uninstalling the AMD drivers, the NVidia drivers, did a clean reinstall, updated the BIOS to the latest, but the issues persist. Looks like AMD + RTX don't get along well at all. What a shame, I really liked this laptop on paper, but it won't work :(

AMD CPU not compatible with Oculus Link

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It is currently very difficult or impossible to make this work with Oculus Link Beta because of the AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU. It will choose the AMD Integrated graphics and there's no option to switch what the Oculus software chooses. Tried many many things on the Oculus forums for hours. Very disappointed that it is VR compatible but not for all Headsets...

Returning asap. The quality of this laptop is so bad. They images look milky white on the screen. There is no crisp looking color/images. Aside from that that computer does what its supposed to do.

Adh coverage doesn’t cover all accidents.don’t get

I paid $103.99 for 2 year adh after being sold on the fact that it covers anything on my tv while on a leasing program with progressive, only to be told that my tv falling from the wall as a freak of nature wouldn’t be covered. Yet the contract with progressive says that a fall from heights is covered. I’m so annoyed and have to purchase a tv where the black and white specifically states I’m covered. Don’t waste your time getting it on a television cause it’s bull.

    3 year accidental protection plan

I bought the protection plan of my laptop and when I took it to fix it because a liquid was spilled on it, they did not want to repair it or do anything ... they stole the money from the protection plan that I paid, they are the worst thieves that exist I never met company like this, I hope nobody will buy any geek squad service ... I have bought a lot of insurance for all my devices, I am an elite member of besbuy, but geek squad is the worst garbage I have known thieves.

Got this computer a few months ago. Took it from my living room to my office. Printed documents and right after it died. I closed it and left it on the desk. I plugged it up and turned it on. The screen didn't work. Best buy said something hit my screen. Not one thing touched it on my desk. I didn't slam it. Now i have to pay to fix something that is still under warranty because they are telling me i hit it some how or i closed something on it. Neither of these things happened. I am not going to bother repairing it. Its obviously made cheaply and i will probably have the same issues in the future. I will also not shop at best buy again. Calling your customer a liar is bad for business.

So I should have paid better attention to a certain review. Good computer works great. Terrible keyboard. Very hard to see the digits with the clear on silver. Lighted or not I feel like taking a fine sharpie and coloring them in. Just terrible on a pc that costs this much. Should have been blue lighted or even red.
