Discieved during purchase and it is not right.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a new laptop from Best Buy and accidental/extendeded waranty because i have purchased 4 or 5 reconditioned laptops in the past few years and was advised to do as I did and I AM STILL GOING TO HAVE TO SEND IN MY BRAND NEW DELL IN TO BE REPAIRED AND BE WITHOUT IT FOR 2 TO 3 WEEKS! I am so extremely disapointed that i am dealing with this, considering when i discussed the extra 120 dollars i payed ditectly to best buy only because i was told it would never have to be sent out! I was considering whether to purchase the dell or the geek squad becuase the guy blaitantlg lies to me about multiple aspects of this laptop! The otignial price for this machine is more than my car is worth! Im a midle aged widow single mom taking care of my husbands mom!I am not who has money to buy another laptop because it broke the bank to spend this 600 dollars on the clearance laptop! It was on clearance and open box, and originalt price being over 1100 dollars and came with no charger, which is ridiculous to tell a customer that "its an opeĺn box so if it does not come with one i had to buy one. Furthermore the keys stick from day on and now some keys do not work and it needs to be sent out to be repaired. The geek squad associate that looked at the laptop wjen i brought it to be diagnosed to however, was very nice and seemed to be compident but i am wishing i would have know this beriee any if this because i would have never .

Don't leave home without Geek Squad

In the old days I use to fix my computer and call it a day. Know that I am away from home most of the time, I don't have the time to troubleshoot a family member's PC if it stops working. Geek squad has more than paid for itself by fixing a start up issue with my son's computer. Thanks Geek Squad!

3 Year Protection DEFINITELY worth it

We definitely all thought the computer was fried! Geek Squad helped me get the computer up and running. I'm hoping that together we can keep it running another year!

Geek Squad Protection on New Laptop, Peace of Mind
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced less than 3-year old Surface with Lenovo Yoga as the screen was flickering and became strenuous to work. As the warranty ran out on the old, we bought 3-year protection from Geek Squad. I am sure this will be worth it whether or not we need it. In the past, we used the service on iPad key board and Best Buy Geeks made it quite easy to replace the broken ones with new every time.

You can't go wrong with geek Squad

Have not had to use the accidental /damage protection, but get it anyway just in case. Better safe than sorry, as for the regular stuff that geek squad deals with I call and they can usually fix. I strongly recommend especially if purchasing a very expensive computer/laptop.

I just cashed in on my GSP warranty

Geek Squad wasn't able to get parts in and repair my laptop within the 30 day period from when I brought in my device. Because of this, they replaced my unit with a new laptop. It was a very, very frustrating experience during those 30-40 days with customer service, but the warranty is the only thing that allowed me to get a replacement so for that I'll give it four stars. One star taken away for terrible and disorganized customer service.

Only store credit, questionable warranty practices
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy determined my laptop met the criteria for replacement, since it completely failed after about 4.5 months of use. However, these warranties are STORE CREDIT or REPLACEMENT ONLY. The terms — which aren’t well presented and are buried in 500+ Q&A entries or an obscure online PDF — show that they do not do cash reimbursement. This is disingenuous. When you’re buying the warranty, the product page proudly lists all the benefits, but never mentions that they don’t do cash or check reimbursement. Why hide that fact unless you don't want people to see it? And it gets worse. The warranty (depot) people tell you to talk to the store for anything even remotely related to replacement or reimbursement. When you talk to the store, they tell you that if you want any change in your warranty reimbursement or resolution, you need to talk to the depot. It’s absurd, anti-consumer, and dubious. At best. And here’s another one: if you call your local store number— you get the main call center. You have to press the right buttons in the automated menu to talk to the right person in the right department, who will then transfer you to the store. Yes, you are, in fact, meant to get the runaround. They just want you in THE STORE. I will tell everyone: do not buy anything that requires a warranty from Best Buy. Valuable products need warranties, and once you buy one from them, you’re trapped in their ecosystem and forced to keep doing business with them in the future. If you want a warranty for the replacement?? You’ll be right back on this page again.

Worth it on big purchases

Game changer

Exactly almost 1 year later the screen is cracked and I just made it in time with the warranty. I send it out and they are fixing now. I might get a free replacement if they are unable to fix it. For this reason I always get some sort of warranty on products usually over $500.

First Time User

Dropped my laptop around 8 months in and it scratched up the screen and caused chips to the body. With the protection plan they refunded me the full amount of the laptop since apparently the screen wasn't something that was fixable.
