    We had a catastrophic refrigerator failure. We purchased a Samsung refrigerator (open box) on 7/24/20 and six days later it quit. Totally Quit!!!! We had purchased the 3 yr. Geek Squad Protection Plan. I called, sat on hold for over an hour before a very nice man set up an appointment with a local appliance repair shop for two days later. The appliance repair shop called me with an automated message confirming the appointment window. The day of the appointment it was a "No Call, No Show". I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Called the number that the man from the Geek Squad had given me and the repair shop hung up on me twice. So, I called Geek Squad back and waited on hold for two (2), yes two (2) hours to be told that they were sorry and because it was a weekend that they would send the repair back out for bid and that would take 1-2 business days to get back to me. Now by Monday I am getting a little impatient and I call Geek Squad again to see where my repair order is in the line up. Again, I sat on hold for an hour, explained my problem to Bethany who stated that she would check on the status and get right back to me. Now here is the part that really is awful. I waited on hold for another hour. Bethany finally gets back on the line with me and tells me that the repair order is in the queue and that it could take as many as two business days and BEFORE I could ask another question she hung up on me. I really understand that times are tough with this pandemic running rampant but honestly. This is not the way that I want to do business any more. My husband and I chose to buy at Best Buy and purchase the warranty because we had had such great service in the past with our TV but not again. The folks at Best Buy were great!!!! We returned the refrigerator as it was still within their 15 day return policy. There was no problem and they were very apologetic about the Geek Squad problem. I hate to say this but I would never spend the money for the extra protection again.

We totally understand that a unit can go out but the support following should back that up. Unfortunately, that's not what happened here. This is not the level of service that we aim to provide you at all. I'm very glad to hear you were treated well upon returning the fridge at the end of it all.     Anything goes wrong with whatever large appliance you get this with, best buy will have you covered, there's nothing to consider here, it's a must.

    Not Insurance

    My Refrigerator started to die after 11 months. I tried to claim the warranty and they said I had to go through Samsung directly. Samsung saw there was only 3 weeks left in the factory warranty and drug the process out 3 weeks, then said the warranty expires an passed the buck to Best Buy warranty. Best Buy then took 4 days to schedule an inspection, another 5 days to schedule a third party repair tech, and then another 10 days to order parts and get the repair done. Meanwhile, my refrigerator is no longer chilling food and I'm stuck without a major aplliance. My recommendation would be to avoid warranties on major appliances. It woild have been cheaper and faster just to buy a new one fue to lost food, eating out, time spent dealing with bureaucracy of insurance.

    The Geek Squad Warranty cover's everything that can go wrong with the merchandise and they also throw in $200.00 dollar's worth of food spoilage.
