I purchased the **5-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection** for my new refrigerator, and while it offered peace of mind, my experience was a bit mixed.
When my fridge unexpectedly stopped cooling, I contacted Geek Squad immediately. They scheduled a technician visit within two days, which was prompt. The technician diagnosed a faulty compressor and informed me that the repair would be handled by a third-party service. Unfortunately, coordinating with the third-party repair service proved challenging, as they were difficult to reach and not very responsive. After some back and forth, I ended up receiving a refund for the original cost of the fridge.
One important thing to note: if you purchased an open-box item, like I did, Geek Squad doesn't replace it with an equivalent model. Instead, they provide a refund, and if you choose to buy a new appliance, you'll need to pay the price difference and purchase a new protection plan. This policy can be a bit inconvenient, especially if appliance prices have increased since your original purchase.
Overall, the protection plan did cover the issue, but the process was more cumbersome than I anticipated. If you're considering this plan, it might be smoother with brand-new items rather than open-box purchases.

I'm really glad I went with this fridge. I was so annoyed with friend's fridges that had a drawer for a freezer. They always lost track of what was on the bottom and had to dig. This one has tons of room in the freezer. You can fit a lot in the door bins. I attached a pic of a big frozen pizza to show that it fits. I wasn't sure it would!
My only gripe is that you have to put some effort into closing the doors, they don't just close on their own.

Great Upgrade for a couple or small family

We were looking to downsize and streamline our kitchen and this refrigerator caught my attention, the lines of the product are beautiful, simple, and aesthetic. The design is very modern and I appreciate how easy it is to clean. The stainless steel is finger print resistant and any smudges wipe away very quickly with little effort. It has a fair amount of space for a small family or an individual. It has lots of areas to organize the content without being over packed. The refrigerator is extremely quiet, much quieter than the one it is replacing. I like that the temperature can be set by phone-- great feature if you need to blast chill something, or for a dinner party prep. Overall, I really do like this fridge. Personally, I would like it a little better if it also had a water dispenser and a touch more size.

Like most insurances, you buy because you hope you never have to use it. Years ago we bought on a fridge and we were very glad we did, it paid off as it failed within the warranty period and they ended up replacing the entire refrigerator. Now, we hope this doesn't happen with this one, but our new KitchenAid refrigerator is an investor of sorts, so we did buy the protection. The Floor Manager at our local Best Buy was terrific. Not pushy, but informative. Thanks Best Buy...hope we don't need this but we'll sleep a little better knowing we have it.

Appointment scheduling needs to improve

The agent was professional and knowledgeable. But the call center need to improve. My appointment got rescheduled twice. The second one they only gave me 7a to 7p window. I called several times to get the narrow 4 hour window, they chorister give me an anwer, they also confirm that the tech will be there. Nobody showed. It was a weekday. Meaning, we the customers have jobs too. This is so disrespectful and bad customer service. The way appointments are set up needs updating.

Worst Experience with Best Buy Geek Squad
1. We reported an issue to Best Buy Geed Squad regarding the Water Dispenser of our LG Refrigerator (Model Number: LMXS30796S) not working on the 21st of April 2025.
2. A Service Appointment for Repair (Service Appointment Number: 106351239) was scheduled on the
22nd of April 2025 to diagnose the problem.
3. A Geek Squad Technician called Sherry came home to diagnose the problem. She did some initial
diagnosis (We paid $120 Diagnosis fees) and She ordered some new parts as part of the Problem
diagnosis and resolution.
4. Sherry set-up a follow-up appointment on the 1st of May 2025 to install the new parts.
5. On the 1st of May 2025, We got an automated message that Parts were delayed and the
appointment was automatically rescheduled to the 8th of May 2025.
6. On the 8th of May 2025, Sherry arrived with the Parts to replace. One of the Parts which arrived did not fit the LG Model. She replaced the other 2 parts and concluded that the Problem did not get resolved. She promised to sync up with her team and get back to us on the 9th of May 2025 with a Status.
7. We did not hear back from Sherry on the Problem since the 8th of May.
8. I reached out to Geek Squad Customer Support on Monday, 12th May 2025 to get the latest on the
current situation. Looks like Sherry did not update the Customer Support Portal on the latest status.
All the Customer Service Representative could tell me was - Parts has arrived and We need to setup
an appointment to install new parts. This was totally incorrect.
9. I asked the Customer Support when the earliest appointment was and I was informed that earliest
somebody could come was the 16th of May 2025.
10. On the 16th of May 2025, I get another automated message that the Service Appointment is being
scheduled for the 22nd of May 2025.
11. I called Customer Support and escalated the issue (Case ID:357197222). I was promised that Sherry's
Manager will look into the issue and try to resolve the issue at the earliest.
12. I got another automated message on the 16th May 2025 that a Service Appointment was setup for the
17th of May as the Manager somehow got the parts and will take care of the issue on the 17th May.
13. On the 17th May, I get another automated message that the Service Appointment has been scheduled
for the 22nd of May.
14. We have been without our Refrigerator since 20th of April and Its been nearly 1 month since Best
Buy has been rescheduling one appointment after another.
I have totally lost hope in Best Buy solving my issue. This is coming from a Best Buy Customer for the
last 10 Years buying the Everything(Electronics and Appliances)

So far they're fixing it when they need to. Don't know about the reimbursement of the foods. Foliage won't know until after I submit it, but so far satisfactory unfortunately they have canceled so I've been able to use my freezer too much more refrigerator, so we'll have to see how the food spoilage reimbursement comes about

Fast forward: six months before the warranty’s up, the ice machine calls it quits. Total repair cost? $420. The plan covered every cent.
So yeah, I’ll admit it. The plan paid for itself three times over, and I didn’t have to lift a wrench or argue with a tech. It wasn’t just a good deal—it was a smart call. Props to my wife.

So far I found that the app that controls the fridge is interesting with data and control features, energy saving settings and updating the fridge itself software and more. Legs on fridge are for leveling the doors with each other, not for leveling the fridge. I found that the water dispensed does not get very cold unless you turn down the temperature of the fridge itself and the water is not cold for very long compared to my last fridge. Not so sure I like the doors going up higher than the rest of the fridge because it makes it harder to store things on top of the fridge. The back tilt of the frige seems like a lot is part of the self-closing door feature. Inside door controller for fridge doesn't stay popped in on one end not sure if this is a flaw from the manufacturer but the one on display at Best Buy wasn't like this.

I purchased an upright freezer that worked great for about a year and then malfunctioned. We lost some of our freezer items, but I was able to get reimbursed and get a new freezer because of the 5 year GeekSquad protection plan! Thank you so much for the help!

This is the first fridge I ever bought myself. It looks great in my kitchen and is easy to clean. I wanted something with an internal water/ice dispenser to avoid water dripping down the front of my fridge. Love that everything is eye level and easy to find. Way better than a side by side or freezer on top

We got notified the day before our scheduled date of a 4-hour window for delivery. The 2-technician crew arrived within middle of the time period and unpacked the new fridge outside before bringing it in. Once inside, they removed the old fridge for haul away, prepared the water line, assembled the fridge parts and completed the installation quickly. Excellent service. Thanks so much!

Bought this fridge to replace our last KitchenAid fridge which lasted us 16 years. This was closest in design to our last fridge but for some reason came with less shelves on the fridge and freezer sides. Additional shelves must be purchased separately when the older models came with all the shelves which is ridiculous as there are clearly grooves for the missing shelves. Also the ice maker in the freezer is obnoxiously loud when making ice. Our prior fridge was never this loud. Overall the fridge is ok but we much prefer the older model. Picked KitchenAid since our last one gave us 16 years. Hopefully this one has a long life as well.
