Russell Crowe does a good job of being evil as well as kind hearted, but Christian Bale refusing to take $1000 as a poor starving farmer with one leg to let Crowe escape is to much. It will never be Tombstone, Open Range or Deadwood by anymeans, but it is better then most. I would watch it again.

Christian Bale & Russell Crowe deliver an outstanding performance in this western story of love, adversity, and bravery. Set in the old days, the cinematography is breathtaking as they showcase the old west. Worth watching twice.

The movie is excellent both Bale and Crowe deliver amazing performances. One of the greatest movies I've ever seen. The plot keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the movie itself offers a great example of good conquering evil.

This is my favorite western of all time. It has one of the best stories ever. I loved it from the beginning. It has some great action scenes, and there are alot of twists and turns along the way to keep the viewer satisfied.

Russle and Christian pretty much says it. I thought it was a great movie. Those two did a great job on it. If you are a fan of the Western Genere than you should check it out. Buy it on Blu-Ray if you do though. Even Better.

This is a nicely developed story. A Bad Guy with a little bit of heart. A Good Guy trying to make good against the system. A wife who disappears from the plot early on. (It is a remake of a 50's Western.) And a rebellious son who has to come along in search of danger. It's probably realistic that a 14 year old would take on this journey back in the Old West. But somehow this version just doesn't sit well. Seems unbelievable. Crowe is good, as usual. The directing is well done. There is some tension. So why wouldn't I recommend it to a friend? Because it's the same old same old. This is a Clint Eastwood type of tale. Again. This is a posse chasing a bad guy chasing money, again. And despite the style, it is still just a Western. Clint Eastwood provided a Few More Thrills.

As for the whole western thing i was alittle worried.. I mean we all know how quickly it can go south.. Bale and Crowe's acting in this movie is so awsome. The action, story line, and even the dialogue is tremendous.

This remake is so well done. The casting is excellent and the actors bring so much dimension to their roles. Absolutely loved this movie and it made it immediately to the list of greatest ever westerns.

On the front of the DVD it says best western since Unforgivin...So SO SO true, if you are a fan of westerns, Bale, or Crowe you should see this movie, it is... well for the lack of a better word...AWESOME!

The movie is a classic. The actors portray the movie so well, that you get into the movie. The blue-ray edition is fantastic as well and if you have he option for HD, then this is one for your collection

I was suprised of how good this movie was. It was better than the classic. It had a good cast like Fonda and Bale. I give this great movie five stars out of five. You should really see this movie.

I bought this on black friday, but it was worth way more than I paid for it. This movie has an excellent screenplay behind it although it is a remake. Should take a look.

I won't go into specific plot items as spoilers, but overall it wasn't a bad western. The story was pretty good, and had a good pace once the initial character's were established. Although there were a few plot holes in the story. The biggest complaint I had was the ending. It seemed to almost be forced, as if they forgot to include the ending and had to cram one in when they remembered. And it almost seemed to be too extreme given the pace of the character interaction between Russel Crowe and Christain Bale's characters. But I can see why the advertisements said it was the best western since Unforgiven. While not a bad western, it's certainly no Unforgiven.

This is one of the best western movies as of late. Russell Crowe does a great job and gets you almost rooting for the bad guy. The in-depth story line gets you hooked almost immediately with great character immersion.

This is the best western movie ever, and I don't even like those type of movies. The plot itself is great and the ending was very worth watching it. 5 out of 5 100%

Great movie! Not only is it well acted, both Crowe and Bale have stellar performances, but the story is very engaging. Must see movie!

Thought it was a great balance of action and great acting. The writing was sound and I was able to connect with the characters.
