I have always like the Samsung products. This one I would caution purchasing. It does not come with a WIFI device, so you are left using a LAN Cable. I would think that these systems would come with WIFI as a standard. This would have been given a lower rating because of that. the sound is still great and plays DVDs with no issues. It does come with some applications like Netflix, VUDU and a few others. Again, you still need a LAN Cable to make those work. It becomes very restricted in terms of where to put this system. Be prepared to purchase a 25 or 50 foot LAN Cable. I would have gave this 5 stars if it had WIFI on it. I think two stars is appropriate as it is behind the times.

I purchased this as not only a surround sound for my TV, but also wanted to be able to hook my turntable into the system. It has been everything I had hoped it would be and more…has smart Technology to use for Netflix, Hulu or whatever, and also has 3-D capability in case I want to upgrade my TV at some point. Not the highest-end product on the market, but more than perfect for my needs. Would definitely recommend!

I bought this Samsung home theater system to replace my 8 year old Phillips home theater which died. My primary use for this type of system is to play DVD's, CD's and FM radio. Basically I purchased my 1st home theater system to replace all of the separate boxes that were cluttering the entertainment rack. Unpacking is a bit of a pain because of all of the unnecessary packing materials used by Samsung. Installation was easy with most of the time spent hiding the wires for the speakers. Setup was quick and easy and the unit automatically checked for and did an upgrade to the system's firmware without any problems. Note that since I placed this unit next to my Wi-Fi router I connected it to the router using a Cat 5 cable rather than the Wi-Fi so I can't speak to any potential issues with Wi-Fi. The picture quality for DVD's is excellent as you would expect. The sound quality is good but not excellent and in no way would compare to the sound quality of a component stereo system or a high end AV system. I compared the sound specs of this system to other out of the box home theater systems in the general price range such as the SONY and the Samsung 5 series home theater and they are very similar (almost identical) so I wouldn't expect a much better sounding system unless you spent at least double and probably triple. My listening area is approximately 15' by 15' square feet and loudness from this 500W system is good. If you have a much larger listening area you probably will be dissatisfied and might want to go with a 1000W system. Keep in mind that a 1000W system is only about 20% louder than a 500W system and not twice as loud. Samsung's 500W and 1000W systems based on the specs would have about the same sound quality with the only difference being a bit more loudness and the wireless rear speakers. The remote is OK but it would be easier to use if it was a little bigger and had a back-lit option. I would also have liked to have the option to use headphones (this unit doesn't have a headphone jack) and from what I have read blue tooth headphones will not work. The FM tuner sensitivity isn't the best so you will only be able to tune in the stronger FM broadcasts with the included FM antenna. And now for a couple of installation tips; - When inserting the speaker wires into the back of the speakers make sure that you don't push them in too far or the speaker will not work. The speaker wires have insulation which is stripped off on the speaker end. When inserted properly you should be able to see where the insulation ends. - When connecting the speaker wire connector into the main unit make sure you push hard enough to hear them snap into place. - After connecting the speakers be sure to use the sound test function from the menu to ensure that all of the speakers are connected correctly. The sound test plays a test tone through each speaker individually while showing a picture on the TV of which speaker is being tested. And now for a couple of comments that address suggestions or issues raised in other reviews. - If you want to route sound from your TV to the home theater, 99% of you do not need an optical audio cable connection. This home theater and virtually all TV's sold in the last 5 years support RAC (Reverse Audio Channel) which routes the audio from the TV to the home theater over the same HDMI cable used to route the video from the home theater. Note that all HDMI cables are required to support RAC per the licensing agreement for use of the HDMI trademark. Unless your cable/satellite provider broadcasts in 5.1 you won't loose anything due to the main unit not having an HDMI input compared to connecting the cable/satellite to the TV and routing the audio to the home theater. - Some sources such as the audio from a CD or most audio from the TV only support 2 channel stereo. Use the DSP/EQ button on the remote to try different audio settings some of which copy or mix the 2 stereo channels such that audio is played through more than 2 speakers. I like the pre-defined GAME setting.

This surround sound system offers everything I needed, multiple speakers, great sound quality, and Bluetooth "brain" and a Blu-ray player. My only complaint is I built a new addition onto my house where this went, and I'm the cords were about a foot shorter than what I needed (for the back two).

I installed this unit in my room. Its perfect in here. Has great sound. Havnt had any issues with it.

I had this for a week. I am a big samsung fan. My tv phone tablet, fridge etc. But this sound lact bass and that sorround sound that u want. Yes u get what you pay for but theres some out there for same pruce that are way better.

I purchased this due to a great sale price. Works better than expected. Easy to set up easy to use menu. Highly recommend.

While this is not the system that I originally wanted, it works very well and serves the purpose I needed for it.

For this price range, this is the best. It turns your tv into a smart tv with the samsung apps and audio is clear and loud.
