    I can use a computer, but fixing it is a whole different story. My laptop stopped work. I was very concerned because I homeschool and need to be able to access a lot of information and records. I took it to Geek Squad and they gave me a fairly long "possible" time. It actually took less than 1/2 the time quoted, and it turned out my battery was just completely dead, so it was replaced at no cost! I usually don't buy warranties but I'm super glad I did and that it worked out so well.

    Only store credit, questionable warranty practices

    Best Buy determined my laptop met the criteria for replacement, since it completely failed after about 4.5 months of use. However, these warranties are STORE CREDIT or REPLACEMENT ONLY. The terms — which aren’t well presented and are buried in 500+ Q&A entries or an obscure online PDF — show that they do not do cash reimbursement. This is disingenuous. When you’re buying the warranty, the product page proudly lists all the benefits, but never mentions that they don’t do cash or check reimbursement. Why hide that fact unless you don't want people to see it? And it gets worse. The warranty (depot) people tell you to talk to the store for anything even remotely related to replacement or reimbursement. When you talk to the store, they tell you that if you want any change in your warranty reimbursement or resolution, you need to talk to the depot. It’s absurd, anti-consumer, and dubious. At best. And here’s another one: if you call your local store number— you get the main call center. You have to press the right buttons in the automated menu to talk to the right person in the right department, who will then transfer you to the store. Yes, you are, in fact, meant to get the runaround. They just want you in THE STORE. I will tell everyone: do not buy anything that requires a warranty from Best Buy. Valuable products need warranties, and once you buy one from them, you’re trapped in their ecosystem and forced to keep doing business with them in the future. If you want a warranty for the replacement?? You’ll be right back on this page again.

    Geek squad is always a great service for anything you buy with Best Buy. If you get it on a device for $200 or less you basically can just exchange the faulty/damaged item and get a new one or credit. A little too high of a price in my opinion though for computers or other higher priced devices. $260 for 3 years is a little steep.

    I bought the accident insurance for 3 years, hoping not to have to use it, but it gives me a lot of security to have it even though in the end I might not use it, than not having it and being exposed to an accident with nothing to give me some security. I have had to use accident insurance before for other products and I have had no problem with the people at BestBuy providing support.

    The agent happily helped detect the damage to my laptop and sent it in for maintenance. Was very helpful and knowledgeable on my protection plan.

    I purchased the 3-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection for my Lenovo Yoga 7i 16" laptop. I try my best to avoid eating and drinking around my laptop, but sometimes I just got to have a drink with me. In the event something does happen, I know I am protected. I hope I do not have to use the protection I have covered for my laptop. If I never have to use the protection it is not a loss of money for having it.

    Not sure it was fully explained to me. After using it once I was told you can only use it 2x during 3-year period. I thought it was for unrestricted use if there was issues. Make sure you read small print.

    the laptop usually runs hot around 80 degrees when not gaming.. but when in gaming.. it's still hovering around 80. the memory ram is not upgradable (soldered) i wish there was more usb-a slots.(only 2) no ethernet adapter performance: pretty good for a laptop. the sound is great! OLED HDR screen! i'm happy with my purchase.

    My Surface Pro 3 was dying on me and was old. I took it in for service because my Word and Chrome would not load up. They said it could be a a motherboard or possible hardware problem. I tried several times to see if they could fix it because it kept hanging on me. They suggested I do a data dump and look at getting another computer. I bought it in 2015 and it's now 2020. I loved my Pro but had to purchase a new laptop. My HP Envy x360 is awesome! I bought them both from Best buy and love the products. I will buy my next one from them too. The Geek Squad helped me get Office installed, set up Webroot and worked with me on getting it ready for use all over the phone. I really like my Reps. professionalism, knowledge and patience. That's my I purchased the 2 year protection plan with them. I won't let it go. It's paid for itself many times. Great investment!!!

    It's always good to have a protection plan for your computers and phone. Best Buy Geek Squad is good but not the best. First you need to get it and appointment just to bring it in, absolutely nothing can be fix when you come in which they use to do. Now you must leave your product and wait for a fix. Next you need to make another appointment to pick it up, which can take up to a week or more. They have nothing in their program that lets you know if they have a cancelation to get in earlier. So, getting anything fix could take at least a couple of weeks or More. I'm glad that everything is covered but not happy about getting in and out of repairs.
