    you always need protection on your electronics, don't be an idiot to say I don't need it b/c it helped to replace my laptop motherboard and another component.

    I purchased this for my Lenovo Yoga C940 and WD - My Passport 2TB External USB 3.0 on the recommendation of Geek Squad associates after the screen on my 1-year old Lenovo Yoga 730 stopped working hours before I had to board a plane and I needed all of the documents off the old laptop and wanted to ensure that I wouldn't run into any issues with an essentially new laptop being useless again. The associates represented this $300+ 3-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection as a fail-safe and that it would guarantee a replacement/my money back in the event that the new C940 laptop had any issues similar to the first 730 laptop. The screen of the now 1-year old Lenovo Yoga C940 stopped working in February 2021 and Geek Squad sent it out for repair at the service center. However, I just received a call from a Geek Squad associate that the service center changed out the pieces that they think were causing the issues with the screen, but they didn't properly put the laptop together. As a result, the laptop is lumpy and not completely together. I was presented with two options: (1) Geek Squad could send the laptop back out to the service center and they will submit an escalation but obviously there is no guarantee my laptop will come back in a good condition based on what they already messed up; or (2) I could get a pro-rated store credit to purchase another laptop. Additionally, despite the WD Passport sitting in the same position as always on my desk, yesterday it also stopped working (the drive wouldn't read and made constant clicking and beeping noises). When I went to Best Buy, they said that my only option was to send it out to the service center. To send it to the service center, I would have to pay at least $500 presuming it is a Level 2 to retrieve my data with no guarantee of retrieval. If it was a Level 3, I would need to pay close to (if not over) $1,000 with still no guarantee of retrieval. This is not what was promised/represented to me when I purchased the 3-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection. I am livid that in a 2-year time span, I have had two computers where the screen doesn't work, an external hard drive that doesn't work, the service center mess up my laptop, and what was represented to me when I purchased the 3-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection is not what the actuality is. It is as though Best Buy is selling defective products and pushing this "3-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection" as a purported fail-safe, but is in actuality a scheme to extort more money out of consumers.
