    Get it if the item is over say $500. Electronics are so quickly made these days and even those that are quality controlled, such as my laptop, there are going to be issues just shortly after the warranty is up I f-ing hate that. So it's either $$ per hour that make fixing the device inequitable to you or buy a new one. The best perk about the Geek squad and the Protection is the better comprehensive coverage that it carries. Manufacturer's warranty is factory flaws, Accidental coverage includes "mishandling" which I did. I took it in and 3 days later had a new screen. Paid for itself right there. I had a professionalism issue with one of the reps but overall it was still excellent.

    Geek squad is beyond amazing. I know that it's hard to see the value in protection plans. We live in a world of insurance scams. I must say though, Geek squad really takes care of you. If there are any problems they are quick to either exchange your item or ship it out at no cost to get fixed. It's truly peace of mind, knowing that when you buy a product someone has your back.

    How are you not going to purchase this protection plan?! With expensive purchases comes the potential for expensive accidents. Thankfully I can rest easy bringing my $3k laptop to coffee shops, class, social gatherings, and just about anywhere else knowing if the worst happens then I’m completely covered.

    Warranty

    Tried to redeem warranty and was told my laptop would have to be shipped out and would take about a month before I could see the new one. Probably worth the money and the peace of mind, but keep in mind that any repair will put you out of your device for at least 30 days if it is not an easily repairable device.

    I spilt hot green tea on my keyboard. So I called. Sent the unit back to Best Buy/ Geek Squad. Then I get an email at 11PM on a Friday night telling me: "The costs to repair your product have now reached your plan's maximum benefit amount. This means the terms of your plan have been fulfilled and your Geek Squad® Protection Plan coverage has ended." So, am I getting a replacement or a store credit? I don't know. It doesn't say. The warranty says it could be either/ or. So I guess I will spend my Saturday morning, or my Monday morning, calling and chatting my way up the information food chain so I can find out what is or is not going to happen. This type of notification without all the information is a total fail for Best Buy and Geek Squad. There is really no excuse for this. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate that, (at least I hope), that I will get a replacement or store credit. But I have no idea which. Am I looking for a computer to be delivered? Do I have a store credit floating out there somewhere? And just when exactly will I find out this necessary information? This info should have been in the email I received at 11PM on a Friday. Stay tuned. Let's see how they handle this. Will I ever know? Will they even care. Jesus, take the wheel.

    Extremely helpful, the guy that helped me was very nice. Completely understood where I was coming from and broke everything down for me so I could understand. I’m not very tech so I really appreciated it.

    I have purchased a few laptops from Best Buy over the last few decades and I am such of huge fan of their purchase options and their Geek Squad support. I am a die-hard Geek Squad fan, they are so professional and efficient. Everyone should be buying their computers at Best Buy. You really can't go wrong.
