Except for my pocket
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took my computer for review because it had a problem and they treated me super friendly and they took care of checking every detail to send it to the technical service thanks to the geek squad protection I didn't have and won't have to pay anything out of my pocket the computer had problems after less than 1 year it was worth every penny that cost the extra warranty

Geek Squad fixed my laptop's battery

My laptop was a little over a year old and it wouldn't hold a charge. It had to be plugged in for me to use it. I took it in and was sent out for repair. It turns out that it needed a new battery. It took a bit longer because of the holidays, but I am a satisfied customer. I recommend everyone get the extended protection on their electronic equipment.

After using it once I was told you can only use it 2x during 3-year period. I thought it was for unrestricted use if there was issues. Make sure you read small print.

Buyer beware

That took a week (during which my daughter had no school computer). Then when checking out with the new computer I was asked if I wanted a repair plan. I responded that I had already paid for a four year repair plan. I was told that once a repair or replacement occurs the four year plan has been used and needs to be purchased again. So, buyer beware. A four year plan is only good till your computer breaks (even if it is the day after purchase), after which it is null and void.

Yeah, I Am A Geek Squad Enthusiast and Recommender

Best Buy's 3-Year Accidental Geek Squad Protection Plan is the best. How do I know? With nine children and fifteen grandchildren, electronics get dropped, cracked, wet, and taken by small children and momentarily used as toys. The "no hassle, no haggle" service has been my experience ... no matter what Best Buy Store I go to! If repair versus replacement can be done, the turnaround time has been faster than expected and the work has been thorough ... my items are returned is like new condition.

I love the versatility of it and especially that it's touch screen and pretty affordable. I purchased the bamboo stylus to use w this And it works well.

Only store credit, questionable warranty practices
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy determined my laptop met the criteria for replacement, since it completely failed after about 4.5 months of use. However, these warranties are STORE CREDIT or REPLACEMENT ONLY. The terms — which aren’t well presented and are buried in 500+ Q&A entries or an obscure online PDF — show that they do not do cash reimbursement. This is disingenuous. When you’re buying the warranty, the product page proudly lists all the benefits, but never mentions that they don’t do cash or check reimbursement. Why hide that fact unless you don't want people to see it? And it gets worse. The warranty (depot) people tell you to talk to the store for anything even remotely related to replacement or reimbursement. When you talk to the store, they tell you that if you want any change in your warranty reimbursement or resolution, you need to talk to the depot. It’s absurd, anti-consumer, and dubious. At best. And here’s another one: if you call your local store number— you get the main call center. You have to press the right buttons in the automated menu to talk to the right person in the right department, who will then transfer you to the store. Yes, you are, in fact, meant to get the runaround. They just want you in THE STORE. I will tell everyone: do not buy anything that requires a warranty from Best Buy. Valuable products need warranties, and once you buy one from them, you’re trapped in their ecosystem and forced to keep doing business with them in the future. If you want a warranty for the replacement?? You’ll be right back on this page again.

Great product

I appreciate making appointments online; though at times, there still is a wait in a queue at the store. Nonetheless, when it is my turn the techs are focused on me and my item. I find the GS knowledgable; they have helped me when most panicked.

12yr old laptop

The 1st time they gave me my money back right away to make a new purchse since the moel was not available for replacement. The 2nd time they replaced the screen no questions asked. It took about 3 weeks to get it back but it's the crazy holiday season and my kid needed the time without it to learn to take better care of his electronics. Overall, happy mom here!

Saves me a fortune

I bought this with my Razer Blade 15 laptop, which cost $2000. I was skeptical to get this at first, but I did anyway. After a year, my laptop develop 1 dead pixel. Geek Squad didn't agree to repair it because they would onlydo it if there are at least 3 dead pixels. I sent my laptop to Razer. It came back with the issue fixed, but now with a trackpad issue. I brought it to Geek Squad again, but this time, somehow the system doesn't let them send out my laptop for repair. I believe it was because they didn't have the replacement parts from Razer. So they gave me a full refund of the laptop. Although I was unhappy at first that they weren't able to repair my laptop (due to it being Razer), I was happy to get a full refund. Now I can use that to buy another laptop. And I would get this Geek Squad protection again.
