    Only store credit, questionable warranty practices

    Best Buy determined my laptop met the criteria for replacement, since it completely failed after about 4.5 months of use. However, these warranties are STORE CREDIT or REPLACEMENT ONLY. The terms — which aren’t well presented and are buried in 500+ Q&A entries or an obscure online PDF — show that they do not do cash reimbursement. This is disingenuous. When you’re buying the warranty, the product page proudly lists all the benefits, but never mentions that they don’t do cash or check reimbursement. Why hide that fact unless you don't want people to see it? And it gets worse. The warranty (depot) people tell you to talk to the store for anything even remotely related to replacement or reimbursement. When you talk to the store, they tell you that if you want any change in your warranty reimbursement or resolution, you need to talk to the depot. It’s absurd, anti-consumer, and dubious. At best. And here’s another one: if you call your local store number— you get the main call center. You have to press the right buttons in the automated menu to talk to the right person in the right department, who will then transfer you to the store. Yes, you are, in fact, meant to get the runaround. They just want you in THE STORE. I will tell everyone: do not buy anything that requires a warranty from Best Buy. Valuable products need warranties, and once you buy one from them, you’re trapped in their ecosystem and forced to keep doing business with them in the future. If you want a warranty for the replacement?? You’ll be right back on this page again.

    The accidental warranty is Absolutely worth the money. I’m accident prone so I knew this was something I needed to have. However, keep in mind that if your computer experiences damage 2 things must occur. #1 they send your computer away (2weeks). #2 they do not back up your computer and if it needs a replacement you have to pay for your information so try to keep a backup

    I like the protection and have always gotten for all my purchases at BestBuy. The one year ended and now they do not let you renew the geek squad protection. Sad. It's a great product for the consumer but I guess company loosing bucks so discontinued it. Make sure you ask questions and make sure before purchase. I would still recommend cause its a great plan.

    Bought a protection plan for a laptop . Glad I did , laptop was damaged and they replaced it with a brand new one . Only thing is it is good for one replacement. Bought a one year insurance but it expires when product is replaced .

    We had made a purchase of a previous laptop and bought the protection for that computer. Best investment ever made. The laptops fan was defective. Geek squad sent it out and had it repaired for us in no time. Would definitely recommend the extra purchase

    This plan has been outstanding. My son is hard on laptops and this plan has saved the expense of repair or replacement on several occasions. If the computer is beyond repair, which doesn't take much damage, the plan give you a credit of the full original purchase price to use for the purchase of a new one.

    Love my Geeks! Can't go wrong... You must absolutely purchase the Geek Squad with every Best Buy purchase you make. If you drop it if you break it they will be there for you; if you have a question, if you can 'can't work it they will be there for you, if you're buying something for a parent or for anyone who I like to call "tech-no - logical" you must buy the Geeks... To sum it up you must by the Geeks
