I bought my son a Sony AX43A Handycam for his little sports filming business he started. Since the $1000 camera is made out of plastic, I purchased the 2 year Geek Squad accidental drop warranty. Of course he dropped it, and the screen wont turn on. I drove to Best Buy to utilize the warranty with the understanding (from our original sales person) that we could exchange the camera if it gets damaged. Unfortunately, that was not the case and the camera has to be sent back for repairs. What really bothered me about this experience was the fact that they would not send the camera back while I was there, but instead, made me make an appointment to then return the camera. Best Buy needs to refine their warranty program. Some items can be exchanged while others can not. I'm assuming it depends on the manufacturer, but sales staff needs to be better informed. Also, if a customer makes the effort to drive to your store to take care of an issue, dont't force the customer to return another time, especially if it can easily be resolved on the spot. I found this the most fustrsting aspect! I will say that the Geek Squad staff was very friendly and this review is about Best Buy's warranty policy.

We bought the extra protection plan because we have several people using the camera and wanted to be safe.

You could always use an insurance on the GoPro or anything you are using a lot and in tough climates.

Was going to buy this at Fryes but the insurance didn’t cover accident damage and price was more.

Getting the accidental protection from Best Buy is totally worth it.

Thankfully I didn't have to use this, and returned the camera. Nice peace of mind to know you have it if needed

Geek squad warranty if it is faulty the fix or replace.
